My new album - The Powers that Beep :-)

Hi there - just thought I'd let you know, our new album, "The Powers that Beep", on Mesmobeat, is ready for worldwide release on 25th July.

ZUBZUB is the creation of Zia Geelani, long-time bass-player with UK psychedelic-rock legends, the Ozric Tentacles. After more than ten years (1991-2002) of widespread touring, writing, recording and producing with the Ozrics, Zia now concentrates full-time on crafting distinctive dance tunes, where the emphasis is on infectious grooves and strong production. ZUBZUB are;

ZIA GEELANI (ex-Ozrics): Writing, production, programming, synths
MARK "MINDFLUX" FLETCHER: Co-writing and production, synths, percussion
JON “CHAMPIGNON” EGAN (ex-Ozrics): flute, ney, duduk, zorna
ALEX PYM: electric guitar

"The Powers That Beep" is finding a wide-audience, as it twists and turns its way through a myriad electronica and dance styles, but with the continuity of the distinctive Zubzub vibe and sound weaving it together in to a cohesive whole. It might not be to every orger's taste, but I know it will appeal to some (and we have some blistering guitar work going on, so it may appeal to more than I expect!).

If you want to check it out, you can have a listen to the title track in full at www.reverbnation.com/zubzub - I hope you enjoy it! (there's also music to listen to at our Reverbnation profile and, if you sign up as a fan, there is FREE music available too!) There are also samples of all the tracks, so you can hear the diversity, here Arabesque

The album is available for pre-order now (www.tower.com are stocking it) and from many other online retailers.

As this is a forum to discuss artists other than Prince, I'd be very interested to hear what people think, even of just the title track preview - all comments and discussions are welcome smile

Cool stuff....Very festy rave.I remember seeing Ozrics loads years ago ('Kickmuck' is a classic!) along with bands like 'Here & Now','Poisoned Electrick Head' etc.Your stuff reminds me a bit of 'Eat Static' with the dance element but there's definately an Ozrics influence on a couple of songs.Nice one!

Yeah, Ozrics were a great band and spawned so many other great acts, including Eat Static. Merv, who formed Eat Static, was drummer for Ozrics for 10 years and Joie (who was also in Eat Static and Here & Now, as well as guesting with Zubzub on occasion) was their synth player.

Glad you liked it biggrin

We thought we'd give you another, exclusive, sneak preview from the album - just head on over to our profile page at www.reverbnation.com/zubzub to have a listen to the dark, brooding "Geodesic" - a fine slab of psychedelic drum'n'bass that rolls in to dubstep and then tails off with some hefty dub. Enjoy!

Also, its worth mentioning that one of my other projects, the progressive/space rock band Dream Machine, have just released their second album, "The Castle of a Thousand Universes". You can check out 3 of the tracks, in full, at www.reverbnation.com/dreammachine - for those of you that are more in to your rock (and a bit of spacey funk!) than your dance, this may well be more your cup of tea wink
