The Jacksons' Destiny & Triumph Expanded Editions due in August

YAAAAY!!! I've been waiting for these since I was 10 years old. Forget the DIsco mixes which I have, remastered and sounding crisp is what I've been pining for:

-----

The Jacksons' Destiny (1978) and Triumph (1980) Now Expanded Editions!
6/25/2008 5:27:00 PM

In honor of its 30th anniversary, DESTINY, including two bonus tracks of rare 12-inch disco mixes previously unavailable on CD, and TRIUMPH, with three bonus tracks of rare 12-inch mixes also previously unavailable on CD, will both arrive in stores August 12th on Epic/Legacy, a division of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.

The evolution that began in 1976, of the classic Motown teen hitmaking group the Jackson 5 into the independent grown-ups known forever after on Epic Records as the Jacksons – was a transition that did not happen overnight. But there is universal agreement that by the time they released their third album for their new label, 1978’s Destiny (with the worldwide hits “Blame It On The Boogie” and “Shake Your Body”), followed by 1980’s Triumph, the first RIAA platinum album of their career – both LPs self-produced for the first time, and (mainly) self-penned – the transition was complete.

“Three decades after its initial release,” writes Ernest Hardy of Destiny, “it’s still fresher - more potent, more substantive within its sturdy R&B/pop structure - than most of what you hear playing on the radio or streaming on the net today.” In honor of its 30th anniversary, DESTINY, including two bonus tracks of rare 12-inch disco mixes previously unavailable on CD, and TRIUMPH, with three bonus tracks of rare 12-inch mixes also previously unavailable on CD, will both arrive in stores August 12th on Epic/Legacy, a division of SONY BMG MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT.

DESTINY and TRIUMPH represent the first expanded editions ever issued by Legacy on the Jacksons, from their catalog of seven original studio and live albums on Epic between 1976 (The Jacksons) and 1989 (2300 Jackson Street). They follow the February 2008 release of the two-disc CD+DVD 25th anniversary expanded edition of Michael Jackson’s THRILLER, which has sold over 2 million copies worldwide so far this year. Michael, celebrating his 50th birthday on August 29th, and the Jacksons will be among the focal points of Universal/Motown’s 50th anniversary campaign this fall.

damn, i just bought that 5 cd set about 10mins ago, hoping they're remastered. so i presume on Destiny it'll be 'Blame it on The Boogie' 12" and 'Shake Your Body', but beyond the 12" of 'Walk Right Now' on Triumph, i can't think what the other two additions will be?

hmmm

It doesn't even matter about actual remasters in the sense of the word. At a decent sound level would be enough. The Jacksons songs on the MJ Ultimate Collection box set and the crappy radio edits on that Best of The Jacksons album that came out a few years ago are superior to the muffled low quality the existing CD albums have.

Yes, I was also close to ordering it on the weekend, already had it in my shopping cart, but then I decided to hold off for a while! It seems that was a good decision! wink

But if you only have ordered it a short while ago you usually can cancel it!

Hot damn! Now, this is what I've been wanting. Some rare 12 Inches. I don't care if the album is remastered because I've got the vinyl anyway.

I have these on vinyl too. I have played the TO DEATH ove the years...scratched to hell...but they STILL sound better than the CDs. The CDs sound are so low and terrible.

Looking forward to these expanded editions!

Those 12 inch mixes aren't rare. They were all released on some Japanese EP on CD in the early 90s. They're really not that good. The only good thing is the Extended mix of Walk Right Now.

I saw that box of all the Jacksons albums together in Zavvi at the weekend. It's a dinky little package with all of them in cardboard slip cases.

It's all about the record companies. Jackie's solo project is probably owned by Universal (as well as Randy & The Gypsies). Marlon is on Capitol and they don't EVER reissue anything worth while. I have been praying for Natalie Cole remasters and they have not seen the light of day yet.
