Solange - I Decided: part 1 & 2

Whoa this girl has changed, seems very much like an British indie vid. The track is a grower, but I see myself forgetting it.

What has it had a lot of airplay already. I only saw part two on tv here in the UK just a few sec's ago. We get tracks late.

I kinda like the song...Its nothing special, but its cute

I'm glad shes doing something pretty different from Beyonce, so maybe she'll be able to duck alot of the unfair comparisons
If you will, so will I

what does the video have to do with the song?

I know the video is kinda weird with all of the historical imagery going on. People getting hosed down and the Chalanger exploding neutral ...but I like the art direction and graphics.

Is this the Freemasons mix? I cant view the frikkin vid on youtube, but i loooove the freemasons version of this. She sounds like shit though - non wonder peepaw Knowles pushed Beyonce first - Solange lags way behind in the talent stakes.

Then how do you give Winohouse a pass and mention her in the same sentence as the Supremes when all that bitch did was rip off the 60s R&B groups?

Same here. It's a nice little ditty and a gracious ode to 60s girl groups. When I first saw the video I kept saying to myself "She looks like Solange but there are 3 of them so maybe it's someone that looks like Solange, plus, Solange does teenie-bopper music". Then I saw the "Sol Angels" on the marquee in the video and then knew it was her.

I like the cut. It's a more mature sound and it baffled me at first because I've always thought of her as young but then I forgot, that girl done got married, had a baby, and then divorced. She's a lot more mature now and I like her direction she's headed in, a lot better than her big sis, who's forever locked into her one sound/genre.

supremes? okay, i can give you that because of the syncopation, the motown hand claps and so on, but amy winehouse? umm no. i'm 37 years old and grew up during a golden time for 70's radio in middle america, and what you're hearing in THAT chorus is straight up "minnie ripperton-as-excutively produced by her husband-richard rudolph r&b". let's not give amy jade too much unwarranted credit here. as much as i've always suppported winehouse's music, let's not pretend that she isn't a cop artist herself, as are most of the artists that make it into mainstream music these days. i love that crazy ass crackhead, but um, she did not invent the wheel when it comes to doing tribute music. besides, winehouse's back to black is firmly entrenched in 60's shangri-las meets wall of sound, knowles' project is more 70's, with a large part of the record giving nods not only to minnie ripperton, but you also hear little bits of roy ayers and little beaver here and there on the other tracks as well.

in any event, i hate the video, but love the song. i've had a dl copy since late april/early may. i fell for it instantly because it reminded me of one of my favorite songs when i was little, "lover and friend". i pretty much wore this out till june, then i had to give it a rest. the rest of the record's kinda okay too.

you are absolutely right but i menioned her because you kind of have to admit she has revamped that sound and has made it popular more recently but of course she ripped off the supremes as well as other 60's girl pop groups.

I wouldn't say she revamped it, she just simply re-did it.
