I was just listening to Roots (Curtis Mayfield '71), thinking about how he touched some profound dichotomies with so few words, and so sweetly. Like painting a picture of how ugly people can be, then finding the beauty that is within our ugliness we become equal. You know?

Are there people still singing like this? I'm trying to think of some, but can't right now. I know Prince goes there sometimes, but there must be others.
