Disco for Rockers

I made a comp this week of dance/disco hits by artists mostly known (at the time anyway) as album rock acts.

Side A:

The Rolling Stones - Miss You (Special Disco Version) (8:36)
Rod Stewart - Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? (Special Disco Version) (6:29)
Kiss - I Was Made For Lovin' You (7:54)
Queen - Another One Bites The Dust (3:33)
Foreigner - Urgent (4:27)
The J. Geils Band - Centerfold (3:35)
The Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra (5:10)
Greg Kihn Band - Jeopardy (Dance Mix) (6:47)

Side B:

Stevie Nicks - Stand Back (Long Version) (4:47)
Yes - Owner Of A Lonely Heart (LP Version) (4:28)
Huey Lewis And The News - I Want A New Drug (Dance Mix) (5:32)
ZZ Top - Legs (Special Dance Mix) (7:48)
Van Halen - Jump (4:04)
Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark (Blaster Mix) (6:09)
Phil Collins - Sussudio (Extended Mix) (6:53)
Don Henley - All She Wants To Do Is Dance (Extended Dance Remix) (7:38)

I like it. I wanted to end it in 1984 with "Dancing In The Dark", but had extra room on the tape so I included two songs from 1985. All songs hit the top 40 on Billboard's dance/disco chart.

"Hot Stuff", "Emotional Rescue", and "Dance Part 2" by The Stones would fit in there too.

I thought about that, but weren't they a white funk band as opposed to rock?

A lot of Rolling Stones would be appropriate. I could make a comp of just their songs if I added a few Mick Jagger solo too.

Great comp. I wouldn't call all of them disco songs but they are definately pop/rock songs that crossed over to R&B radio. Also add:

Fascination (12 Inch Dub) - Human League....(I think it's called Improvisation or something)
I Can Dream About You (12 Inch) - Dan Hartman
Andy is a four letter word.

The Human League were new wave to me so I didn't include them. I keep all the new wave/alternative acts like them, Bowie, etc. on separate 12" mix comps.

I considered that Dan Hartman song, but he was a disco act in the 70s so it got nixed.

The #1 disco/rock track is "Crazy Train", by Ozzy. Woogiebear calls it "distorted ass disco". Oh yeah we can't forget that weak ass track from 1979 "I was Made For Lovin' You", by Kiss!

No! They were as the song says "A Rock 'n' Roll Band"

SoulAlive

What about ELO? They were a rock band who dabbled into disco a few times...

"Shine A Little Love" (1979)
"Last Train To London" (1979)

This weekend my friend and I DJed a house/keg party and we were to play "all rock" (we usually play a lot of hip hop) and I think every one of those songs was in the crate.

I liked when my pal was playing "Let's Dance" by David Bowie and scratched in the start of "Edge Of Seventeen" on top of the Bowie groove.
