Talking Heads - "Slippery People"

I was going to say that this is my favorite song on Speaking in Tongues, but every song on that album is my favorite song on Speaking in Tongues. lol I think it's even better live, and those backup vocalists just send me over the edge. The musicianship as a whole on this album is brilliant.

Talking Heads did their part to 'keep dah funk alive'! The band was really good live, and David was a pretty good freak show (smile). Speaking in Tongues, with 'Burning Down the House,' is my favorite record of theirs, maybe because my right-hand man, Bernie Worrell, from Funkadelic, was playing iwth them at the time. I got a chance to work with Jerry and meet the guys and gal, and they were pretty hot. Those are still the days. - Bootsy Collins

Speaking in Tongues is IT for me!!!!! Some of my favorite songs are on this record. - Bernie Worrell

I haven't examined it for any meaning, but I have that problem with any song. I'm pretty damn shallow. boxed

this song makes me very happy, but yeah...so does just about every song from that album. my least favorite song from speaking in tongues is "burning down the house", and that's solely because i got so byrned out from hearing it on radio all the time. i still know it's a great song, just criminally overplayed.

And I've yet to tire of that one, especially if I play it LOUD. The only one that's tough for me to get through is Swamp.

Stymie

I had no idea that was a Talking Heads song. The only version I know is from The Staple Singers and it kicks ass.

I agree with you about all of the Talking heads songs
being awesome..
but you also nailed it about Slippery People too!
One of the songs on Speaking In Tongues that I always
turn up extra loud is that freaky groove Moon Rocks.
"Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"
__ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ ___

"Midnight is where the day begins"
