a new jack swing tune that's so underrated The Way I Feel About You-Karyn White
sure youtubers say it sounds like something off Rhythm Nation, but Karyn has Janet beat vocally, and the melody is just so pretty! I hope this sound makes a comeback in a few years.

I like it, but I don't know if I would consider it a "new jack swing" cut. It is definitely a good cut for both Karyn and Jam and Lewis. BTW, the melody of the song does remind you of something that would have been included on RN. Especially the chorus. Play The Way I Feel About You and Alright back to back and you can hear the similarities. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Great track. Sure, it sounds like Janet's stuff because J&L gave everyone the same sound. I also think they wrote most of the melodies on the Janet stuff too. Listen to Alexander O' Neal's "Sentimental" and you would swear it was an outtake from Rhythm Nation. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Same can be said for "The Morning After" from Alex. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I never noticed that before, but now that you mention it..... “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

I love that song. I was jamming to it on my iPod the other day. It takes me back to when I was in 7th grade and didn't have a care in the world. Where is Karen White now? I miss her. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Actually, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis DID NOT write or produce Karyn White's "The Way I Feel about You." The song was written and produced by Christopher Troy and Zack Harmon.

I totally forgot about that. I think Terry sang background on it and Jimmy played keys....but you are right. They did my favorite song on the cd "Hooked On You". **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Jimmy Jam didn't even do that, according to the credits for the "Ritual of Love" album. He's not listed on the credits (Terry Lewis is listed as a background singer). Personally, "The Way I Feel about You" puts me more in the mind of two other Karyn White-performed songs: her first solo hit "The Way You Love Me" (produced by L.A. and Babyface) and "Facts of Love," her collaboration with Jeff Lorber. Yes, Chuckii Booker's "Games" was a No. 1 single in 1992. But then again, most of these songs reached the top five of the then-Billboard R&B Singles charts. More New Jack Swing songs that are a little underrated: Heavy D & The Boyz "Somebody for Me" Club Noveau "Situation No. 9" [Edited 7/9/08 20:40pm]
