Was just watchin' this old clip of Soul Train, and noticed that one of the guys in the crew did the Moonwalk - this was filmed in 1980. Maybe it is or is not well known already that MJ did not invent this move, watch the clip and tell me what you think:

Honestly though, there isn't much new under the sun.

I'd say Michael POPULARIZED the moonwalk, but I saw 12 year kids doing it on the streets of NYC back in 1979.

It's probably older than that. As the Youtube clip reveals, we've lost more steps today than ever before, it seems.

It really dates back to the 1930s and 40s. Wasn't that Bill Bailey guy the real first?

In all my years of being a MJ fan, I've never heard MJ say he invented anything, lol. The mainstream media didn't know what a "moonwalk" dance was until Motown 25 and MJ. Beforehand, the dance was ingrained in black culture for...DECADES!

Nice video, but i maintain it was Jeffrey that put together the modern version of the move. The pop-locking version of it was a lot shorter and the more along the lines of the chili sauce with the feet sliding instead of the actual full moonwalk.

The older clips are interesting, but aren't the moonwalk in the modern sense of the dance move.

and there is no such thing as "pop-locking". Popping and Locking are 2 different styles
