I don't think this rumor is true. I've heard that D'Angelo was gonna cover Adore for a long time, and it still hasn't happened. As far as Prince's reaction. He liked D'Angelo's cover of She's Always in My Hair, and he invited D and ?uestlove to Paisley Park when he heard it. When people say "he hates it when people cover his songs", I don't think that's true 100% of the time. He hates bad covers of his songs. He made comments about not liking Ginuwine's cover of When Doves Cry because it sucked. Obviously, he love Alicia Keys' cover of How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore, though. as unnecessary as a D'angelo remake of this is, it has to be better than the "remake" Prince did for Carmen Electra's album.

He's a fan. It was on the "Scream 2" movie soundtrack. I liked it ok. But "Adore"? -- With a hip-hop beat and some spoken "seduction" mess in the middle? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'll play it first and tell you what it is later. -Miles Davis-

and then he goes on to cover everybody elses song.....what a hipocrite! Hmmmm... I've never read that... Plus, Prince had to "OK" D'Angelo/Saadiq/?uestlove's work on "She's Always N' My Hair"... He's probably "OKed" "Adore for them too...

"Adore" (featuring T.I...or Common?)
I'm pretty sure that EriC Leeds would be called for this one since his brother Alan is D'Angelo's manager/tour manager.. I don't know.. Prince hit some notes on the original that he does not try live... "The Musicology Tour" was the best recent opportunity to perform "Adore" live.. He had the band for it.. Background Vocals: Candy, Chance, and Rhonda. The Horns.. John might've been "too jumpy" for the beat, but I doubt it. Plus, Prince could have included the Linn Beat as a guide--like he did for "When Doves Cry" during the Tour. Still, he chose "The Beautiful Ones", "Shh", and "Call My Name". That told me that it was a diffcult song to pull-off live..even by its creator. Yo D! I can help with The Linndrum programming! [Edited 7/8/08 21:31pm] [Edited 7/8/08 21:31pm]
