Madonna's potential divorce

I heard on the radio this morning that Madonna is seeking a divorce and has been talking with Paul McCartney's divorce attorney.

Not a surprise. She stated as much on Hard Candy. When I listened to the album the first time, I thought she is planning to divorce. 'Miles Away' is not on the album by accident. There's also 'She's Not Me', 'Voices', and of course 'Devil Wouldn't Recognize'.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I doubt this is true. I read something in the media and both say they are happy in their marriage.

Madonna just got her adoption of the little boy approved.

The radio report I think was on 99.1 or 99.7 in Los Angeles.
It said they were waiting for the adoption to be approved before filing.
I guess the change would have sent Madonna back to square one.

But looking at the songs on Hard Candy, do you think she sounds as if the marriage is over? I also don't think she just chose the 'best' material she recorded for the album.

precisely. she was smart enough to wait until AFTER the adoption was approved in order to prevent any possible denial from the courts. she's smart. and purplegypsy called this out ages ago, lol.

in the words of faye dunaway's Joan Crawford..."maybe [she] did it for a little extra publicity..."

i was looking...other than the typical lift, what looks different about her? same facial contours and all. i mean, aside from a few pics with bad/harsh lighting and/or makeup, i don't see much different (aside from the tightness of a lift).

I agree - she's gone a little too far with the work she's had - and lay of the frikkin botox for a minute. The thing that looks worst is her eyes.....there's a permanent startled look on her face. There's rumours she had a couple of chicken cutlets slipped into her cheeks to plump them out a bit, but i guess that could be a result of a facelift too.

Either way, i hope this isnt the winding road into Jocelyn wildenstein territory.

As for the marriage - ive assumed for a while it was over as such, and more of a marriage of convenience. Im sure there will be a completely amicable settlement, and the two will remain friends - she has a habbit of remaining friends with her exes - so hopefully it will continue. I think the trio of songs on Hard Candy that alude to her marriage highlight the situation perfectly, Incredible being the best example.

I just read that this morning, but the book has yet to be written. I tend not to keep up with the personal lives of performers I like, so it was news to me that they're not close anymore. Nonetheless,, the AP report on the book says just that:

NEW YORK - The mystery is solved: Madonna's brother, Christopher Ciccone, is writing a memoir about his sister, to be released in mid-July by an imprint of Simon & Schuster, the publisher told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

The imprint, Simon Spotlight Entertainment, had been promoting a celebrity memoir for July, without identifying the author or contents. "Life With My Sister Madonna" will have a first printing of 350,000. Financial details were not disclosed.

"Ciccone's extraordinary memoir is based on his life and 47 years of growing up with and working with his sister — the most famous woman in the world," the publisher said Wednesday in a statement.

Persuading stores to make "blind" orders has been tried before. In 2006, William Morrow offered a mysterious tell-all that turned out to be by Princess Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, who had already written about her. Retailers were angered and the book sold poorly.

Ciccone will work with Wendy Leigh, who has written biographies of Liza Minnelli and Grace Kelly and a highly critical book about Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Ciccone, 47, has worked often with his older sister, designing and directing her "Girlie Show" tour in 1993 and serving as artistic director of her 1991 documentary, "Madonna: Truth or Dare." But according to Madonna's spokeswoman, Liz Rosenberg, they are no longer close.

Madonna, who turns 50 this summer, is among the most popular recording artists in history, with such hits as "Like a Virgin," "Material Girl" and "Vogue."

Rosenberg had no initial comment on the book, but told the AP that "Madonna has not cooperated with any biography about herself."

"The Devil Wouldn't Recognize You" is an old ass song (maybe written before COADF) but the rumors could be true. Seems like they are laying low as a couple and Madonna not doing a full tilt promotional tour (although frankly, she didn't do a ton for COADF either) might be proof of that. The fact that the brother is writing a book right now kind of sucks. I like Madonna has a personality who often created cool controversy around her projects but not as a tabloid victim who has to get away from the spotlight in order to protect herself and her family....those kids ruined everything!

I'm on a waiting list to be adopted by Madonna.
I'm hoping that it happens after the divorce,
cuz from what I understand,
when parents separate, it can be very traumatizing to the children.
And I really don't wanna go thru that, especially at this point in my life.

So, do me a favor guys,
& keep me in your prayers.
pray

Report: Madonna obtains divorce lawyer

Madonna has hired the no-nonsense British divorce lawyer who repped Prince Charles and ex-Beatle Paul McCartney in their high-profile splits, it was claimed Thursday night.

The Material Girl retained Fiona Shackleton, known as the Steel Magnolia, in rumored divorce proceedings against her husband of seven years, filmmaker Guy Ritchie, The Times of London said.

Shackleton pulled off a major coup in McCartney's divorce, protecting all but $48 million of his $1.6 billion fortune.

"Madonna always seeks out the best in whatever field she is interested in at any given time," a friend of the singer told London's Mirror. "Fiona Shackleton is the best."

McCartney's ex, Heather Mills, was so upset after the judge's ruling that she dumped a pitcher of water on Shackleton's head.

Shackleton, 52, declined to comment on the report.

"The firm and Mrs. Shackleton have a policy of not speaking with the press," a spokeswoman told the Daily News.

Madonna, 49, did not appear to be wearing her wedding ring Thursday when she was spotted getting into an SUV in Manhattan.

Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, didn't offer her usual denials, though, saying only, "My comment is I have no comment."

Madonna met Ritchie, 39, in 1999 after moving to London. They were introduced by Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler and got hitched in Scotland a year later.

The couple has two children Rocco, 7, and David Banda, 21 months, whom they adopted from Malawi in 2006. Madonna has a daughter, Lourdes, 11, from a prior relationship with Carlos Leon.

The British tabloids have reported for weeks that Madonna - reportedly worth some $600 million - has stopped sleeping in the same bed as Ritchie and hasn't been wearing her wedding ring.

They just returned from a three-day trip to Milan, but a source close to the couple told Britain's Sun newspaper, "They had completely separate rooms, schedules, everything. It was all very well organized, but it's not a marriage the way most people understand it.

"They have this attitude like, 'We're not really a couple, but we're friends and we love each other and raise our kids.' But the truth is they annoy each other, don't agree on anything, don't see each other or live 'together' as they did."

Madonna used the Milan trip to visit fashion designers to source costumes for her scheduled world tour. Ritchie worked on a new commercial with actor George Clooney.

The couple reportedly did not have a prenup agreement, so Ritchie can seek up to half of her fortune.

"Apparently, Madonna was impressed by Fiona's work for Sir Paul and the way she handles herself in the public eye," a friend told the Mirror.

"She is a consummate professional."

Unlike earlier reports, though, there seem to be more details now and it's being reported by various newspapers and news outlets. Doesn't prove anything I'm just saying it's much more plausible now IMO.

Oh yeah,I agree. My mother even called me the other day, telling me she heard it on the news lol I guess if it's true,we'll know soon enough.

On her latest CD,Madonna pretty much confirms that there are problems in her marriage. When I first heard "Miles Away",I was surprised at some of the lyrics...

all my dreams,they fade away
I'll never be the same
If you could see me the way you see yourself
I can't pretend to be someone else

That pretty much sums it up! A few other songs also paint a less-than-rosy picture of their relationship.

No plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce

Madonna's spokeswoman has released an exclusive statement to PEOPLE rejecting reports that the singer's marriage to her film director husband Guy Ritchie is on the rocks.

"Madonna's husband Guy arrived in New York last night to be with his wife and family, not in a last-ditch attempt to save his marriage which does not need saving," Liz Rosenberg told PEOPLE."There are no plans for Madonna and Guy to divorce."

Rosenberg also denied a published report of a relationship between the singer and New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez."Madonna and Alex have the same manager,Guy Oseary," Rosenberg says."They have met. They know each other and Madonna took her kids to a Yankees game last week. There's really not anything to comment on beyond that." Adds Rosenberg: "It's nothing new that people are airing tons of dirty laundry Madonna's way lately-much of it untrue." She joked: "By the way, rumors of Madonna and Lil Wayne are quite exaggerated,as well".

I did find it odd and questionable that Madonna and Guy would divorce right before she begins a world tour and only a few weeks after the adoption of David was finalized. That's why I didn't really believe these latest rumors.
