Rita Coolidge - "(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher" This came up in a thread a few weeks ago, but I love it so I'm putting it out there. I know some purists will probably denounce this in praise of the earlier version by Jackie Wilson, but I stand by this one. Mr. Wilson's is an undisputed classic, but the pop arrangement and those groovy keyboards in the Delta Lady's version are music to my ears.

I brought this song up!
And I agree with your sentiment - it's not that I think it's BETTER than the classic original, it's just that there's something very unique and sultry and very very sexy-seventies about this version. It pushes all the right nostalgia buttons.

WHen I think of this song, I think of Rita. Though I do like the original, hers is more etherial, his is more gritty and pleading. Christian Zombie Vampires
