BEE GEES - Greatest....this compilation is pure brilliance!

I think this one was remastered by Rhino last year. Anyway, that is one of the best collections ever assembled in my book. It's the only Bee Gees album I own (with the exception of Saturday Night Fever--that doesn't count as a Bee Gees record right?) Check me out and add me on:

I got the remastered version. Ironically i think the Bee Gees have one of the best collections which is the Double "For the Record" which spans the whole 1969-2001 period of work. It's one of the best things that I own.
But they certainly made a lot more music before and after the 70s that deserves to be heard on album or on "The Record".

I go with this one, i have both, but the "for the record" gives a total snapshot of the bee gees entire musical output. "the greatest" deals with the "untouchable" period they had from 1975-1979. IMO there have been only 3 other artists that have that much of a hold on the music scene, The beatles when they broke in america, MJ during the Thriller days, and Elton John from 1970-1976 when he had 17 albums and close to 30 singles. Yep. One is the creamy center filling, the other is sucking on the whole candy. Although someone will probably chime in to say that you need to sample the whole bag. And in the digital age one would only have to copy the album artwork from the Internet and obtain the following 6 tracks not on “The Record” to magically produce “Greatest”. 9-(Our Love) Don’t Throw It All Away 12-You Stepped into My Life 15-Rest Your Love On Me 17-Spirits (Having Flown) 19-Wind of Change 20-Children of the World

I remember when I saw "Greatest" in stores, I was shocked by how limited it was in it's track listing, dealing only with that huge hit period and ignoring a whole lot before and after. I'm definitely more interested in "For the Record". I think my favorite Bee Gees song is their sort tacky late eighties AC hit "One".

Its scary how the Bee Gees never get their props, and they do deserve it, probably more than any artist talked about on this forum.
