The funny thing is that Aaliyahs BEST album which was her final record, Tim almost had nothing to do with, and was not present on the best stuff by far.

I love love love Aaliyah, but her best album IMO is One in a Million. Furthermore, Tim's "We Need a Resolution," "More Than a Woman," and "I Care 4 U" are just as strong as the other songs on the self-titled record. Static (R.I.P.), a Tim protege, is all over the album.

As an aside, I have to again question the idea of making "Messed Up" a bonus track! That sh!t is bangin'!

I liked one in a million but i thought where she was going with the Aaliyah album was light years further, and it was taking RB at least mainstream RB into new places, too bad that idea died with her, since no one has really made strides like that.

You do appreciate the irony of that statement, don't you? As the first major vehicle for Timbaland and Missy, One in a Million actually did take R&B to new places.

never understood the hate on this guy, liked his sound from the getgo.

When is it not okay to like him? shrug I've always liked him, but he was pretty untouchable in the mid to late 90's. I was so into his sound during that era, and I remember a lot of stuff on the radio sounding like him. The first few times I heard No Scrubs, I could have sworn it was him.

Me and Timbaland we make you wanna bite our style whistle

These two tracks blew my mind when I first heard them:

Missy Elliott - The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)

Aaliyah - One in a Million

Two other great tracks of his that don't get mentioned enough...

SWV - Can We
It's so tasty like pastry!

Total - What About Us

Also, because of the change in chart tabulations at the time, he has the distinction of producing the first-ever song to hit #1 on the Hot 100 based on airplay alone:

I can't help but think Missy is singing directly to Coco and hoping she picks up on the hints. lol And damn...she's stickin' apple pies up there to attract suitors? eek

I remember when Are you that Somebody came out that everybody was trippin' over the baby coo-ing. That song and video with Fatima's choreography is STILL my favorite song by Aaliyah and Tim. I think they would have continued to make awesome music together. RIP rose Gina and Aaliyah. sad

Yeah that's true, Timbaland made "uneven, broken beats" mainstream if you ask me. It was all over Destiny's Child and TLC's work in the late 90's, No Scrubs reminded me of Total's What About Us when it came out in fact. Even MJ's Heartbreaker and Janet's You Aint Right & Doesn't Really Matter had a Timbaland sound to it, though I wanted their whole albums to sound like that.

Id have to disagree, though a good album, it wasnt the groundbreaker, At times it was very "pop" especially the ballads. I think that was the thing about Aaliyah was that you could put her in all genres pretty much, and have it work, now there isnt any room to be different for artists.

For all intents and purposes, that album was the genesis of the Timbaland sound. How was it not a groundbreaker? It didn't take long for everyone in the game to want to work with him directly or bite his style.

nod I love that first album. Two of the most overlooked tracks are "Man Undercover" with Aaliyah and "Joy" with Ginuwine and Playa. Those songs are hot and sit right alongside those artists best material.

Timbaland was amazing, I love his old stuff. With Aaliyah, Ginuwine, Missy. The good old days.

SexyBack is his worst song ever I think. I really don't like how all his songs sound the same today.

Timbaland and Justin have become a beat making duo. It's not just Timbaland featuring on an album, its Justin AND Timbaland together.

Ginuwine + Timbaland >>>>> justin and timbaland

Does anyone know why Ginuwine and Timbaland stopped working together? Did Timbaland leave him for Justin?

sad

Whoever said I'll do anything/I'm sorry... cool That is one of my favourites too. The Stevie sample is heavenly.

I think we would have to ask Ginuwine. All I know is... fans of Justin's album need to check out the beta test versions called The Bachelor and 100% Ginuwine.

Just as well that I don't like his work with Justin, because I didn't with Ginuwine either. neutral

True but for all that we can say that things like Ginuwine were merely advancements on the whole "jodeci" thing and that was reall brought through by Puffy, though people like to deny him his cred, he did break a whole movement that had alot of smaller movements within.
