They both sucked as far as I'm concerned... 2 of the most overrated rappers of all time.
How about... Rakim or Big Daddy Kane? Overweight rappers: Chubb Rock or Heavy D? "He's a musician's musician..."

Both average as hell.....Let's talk KRS-One.

I would say 2pac was a little better as a lyricist but i echo the
sentiment of everyone who has posted so far that they were overrated especiallay as far as being mentioned the best of all time. Just to mention a few who are better q-tip, black thought, common, krs-one, rakim, grand puba. Don't laugh at my funk

But 2pac was a far better songwriter! Apart from Prince, I don't know any artist from any genre that wrote songs & poems as often as 'Pac did.

How about... Rakim or Big Daddy Kane? Overweight rappers: Chubb Rock or Heavy D? Cinnie & I both agree the Rakim is the real G.O.A.T. But in a battle rap, Rakim VS KRS-One might take at least a 100 rounds to decide a clear winner.

As far as battles go, that's not fair, as Rakim wasn't about battles at all. Kane was though. KRS, most def. "He's a musician's musician..."

It's true though, right? If U put Biggie up against Grand Puba, Chubb Rock, Kane, Rakim, or nearly anyone from '87 to '92... well... U get the point, my dear. "He's a musician's musician..."

I never really dug Biggie. He made it seem easy, yes, but he never really seemed to say much that meant anything.
Tupac had a way to go to reach his potential, but he was one of the most charismatic & powerful performers in hip hop. Even when he was saying something ignorant it felt important. My Legacy

Well, to answer the question, Tupac was more poetic, Biggie, more versatile. I prefer Biggie, but that's a hard question to answer.
As to the larger question, Rakim is the greatest MC of all time. He revolutionized MCing. Knowledge Reigns Supreme Over Nearly Everyone would also be on hip-hop's Mount Rushmore. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

2Pac: Very from the core rap style. Sounded like he was rapping from the pit of his stomach. Talked about things and in a style that appealed to thug life. Great diction.
Biggie Smalls: Would use and abuse the rhythm and the flow. Lyrics were tight, but his patterns were off the hook. Personally, I prefer KRS One and Chuck D as the better lyricists, Rakim as better overall rapper. But I'm a fan of the genre, and so many people have built they steelo on other peoples' flow that the inspirations start to mish and mash. Of course, I have a bit of a N.Y. bias since that's what I came up listening too. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
