I will give you the "The Roots" because they are a band and I will even say okay to Mos Def because he has stage presence but Jay-Z has no talent at all.

For him to strap on a Guitar that he can't play is riduculous and just proves how rap sucks live. I am putting down the whole genre because you can't name anyone in rap that is doing anything with real music except the Roots. One group out of hundreds is a bad track record.

Lil Wayne just sold a million cds he is the first rapper to do this in over 3 years. People are not buying this shitty music. Teens are buying it as ringtones. I don't think I need to say anymore than that about rap.

The reality is no rap group is going to get air play unless thay are doing something ignorant and I know a lot of music fans who are sick of it.

"Michael Jackson is a piece of shit" Well he is but that has more to do with little boys and not music.

You just reminded me why I hate visiting the org... bitching, stereotyping, a general disregard for others preferences,

Jay-Z more than anyone else probably knows he can't play a guitar, IT WAS DONE TO TAKE THE PISS! and the crowd loved it, your remark about rap sucking live reminded me of the music journals back in 84 when they said rap will never sell in the long player format and that it's just a fad, they actually thought acts would only sell 12's, 'LiL Wayne just sold a million cds', you must understand sales have nothing to do with good music, the best hip hop acts are the underground ones, who generally sell very little.

The controversy of Jay-Z's selection as a headlining act and his performance has significantly helped to secure a future of the Glastonbury festival for at least another four years, so the music press are having to eat their own words again and have been for the past 24 years now.

I have the whole Jay-Z Glasto performance on dvd and to be honest I wish I was there.

Maybe it's just not in your blood.

Because I am not a fan of rap right now does not mean I have disregard for other preferences. You have a right to your preferences and I have a right to mine. I am within my rights to express my opinion. The guitar playing was done because Jay-Z is a no-talent bum who is really trying to take a shot at artists who have more talent in their thumb than this guy has overall. It was stupid and ignorant. What he should do is learn to play an instrument or hook up with someone that can. In addition, a good speech therapist would help also since he cannot put two words together.

I was around back in the 80’s and I remember people saying that rap would never sell out of a ’12 inch’ format. I remember when rap was good music. When 95% of the artist were not promoting drug dealing and attacking woman. You do not have that at all today and I am sick and tired of hearing about the few underground rappers who are not ignorant because I do not feel I should have to search for good music. If all of the so-called rap fans would stop, buying the crap that is out we could hear some decent music. If all of the ignorant rappers would be true artist, step out of the mold, and do something innovative we would have good music. However, you do not see any of this happening so please can the nonsense about underground rap and not damming the whole genre when you know 95% of it is total ignorant shit.

I agree with this. His voice is awful.

And, this just goes to show how immature he is. Doing an Oasis song just sends the message of "look at me doing an Oasis song". Such childishness.

Count me in with the group that was amused. I think it would've been a little more clever if he had rapped the lyrics and then let the crowd sing the chorus, but I still think it was funny. And I like Oasis just fine. Perhaps "Don't Look Back in Anger" would've been a little more appropriate?

What would have been cool, would be if he did his own take on it,and
made it his own...Imagine if someone dissed Prince like that,he would
have tore that song up.If you can't make anything creative out of it
why bother

"If you can't make anything creative out of it

That was my point. Jay-Z can't do anything creative because he does not have the talent. He is not John Lennon or Marvin Gaye or even at P's level.
What is really sad is that you have a whole crowd of young people who don't really have anyone from their genration that is creative so people like Jay-Z fill the void sad
