Z Cult Monster/Favorite Bootsy Ballads One of the best things about Bootsy as a songwriter and as a musician is that he can write cold blooded bass lines to a slow tempo. Meaning he never loses his intesity in his riffs. I've ALWAYS dug Bootsy's ballads. Some of my favorite material from Bootsy are ballads. A few of mine are probably yours too:
I'd Rather Be With You...What's A Telephone Bill...and two serious favorites of mine "Munchies For Your Love" and one that many don't dig "Ex-con Of Love". Bootsy really breaks out with his Hendrix voice on his ballads, which is bangin' and funny as hell at the same time. As a musician, I've always dug Bootsy's ballads because the emphasis is always on the musicianship. I really LOVE Munchies because this track is basically an excuse for Bootsy to turn it out on his bass ala Hendrix style. No different than an Isley Bros track like "Aint' I Been Good To You" which is nothing more than a set up to showcase Ernie's Hendrixian moments. Anyway, which are your favorite Bootsy ballads? Uhm, I pretty much love every Bootsy ballad 
What about Very Yes? Now that's a mellow groove  It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

"Ex-con of Love" for me. This comes from my favourite Bootsy album. I love this record and this ballad. Production is great and Bootsy's lyrics are at once ridiculous and deep. | |

I love them all... because I almost instantly dug the grooves, I remember back in the day picking up the needle to go back over and over again to hear the lines Bootsy was saying on a song....I used quite a few lines or sayings if I may say so myself from Bootsy's songs as pick up lines.
blackguitaristz, I remember quite a few times how much you've said you dug Excon of Love, I can say I'm right there with ya' from the first time in '82 when I heard the TOGTCTA album it's been a must play song; actually for me, I have to play the entire album for full effect. I have several albums I must play the entirety of for full effect, and this is just one of them. funkpill, I've been vibrating that Sacred Flower somewhat over the past months during my Bootsy fixes. One of my favorite lines in this song "Sitting here waitin' just a pollinating, like a hummingbird sucking on your tulips (two lips)". A cleverly written song about deflowering by way of oral sex. "I can dig it, He can dig it, We can dig it, We all can dig 'cause uh wee's been 'Grazin' In The Grass'. Oh' Boy Gorl is another underrated slow Bootsy joint. I've been bouncing all over Bootsy's LP's lately. Leslyn Bailey vocals on Love Vibes and spotty vocals on Physical Love have been givin' me eargasms too. Tracks like Muchies For Your Love and Excon, for example, were written from the guitar. I'll take it further out; Bootsy has also stated that most of the bass lines from his debut album were written on the guitar. The riffs, he wrote on the guitar.
