2 days ago I was listening to this song, but the George Benson's uptempo original version (I say original because in his greatest hits collections there's a edit version all the time), and I had the same feeling -)

L.T.D.'s version of "Love Ballad" is the original version and came out three years before George Benson's 1979 cover of the song.

He knows that Little Amy. His reference is to two versions of George Benson's version. That's why one is called original for his purpose of clarifying which track he was referring to.

I know. That's why I put Benson's original (no edit) uptempo v/s his typical edited version on his compilations... The latter even edits parts on the lyrics.

It seems that all my songs are depressing! Being gay is not being happy!

It's not being a screaming queen. Or parading oneself with feathers.

Don't worry, there are plenty of those... And ALL of us have put them in "repeat mode" sometime. sad

It wasn't quite clear to me when I read it, hence the L.T.D. reference. It would have been clearer to say the edited (and likely, the single) version of George Benson's cover of "Love Ballad."

Ben - Michael Jackson

(No, just kidding.)

But back in the days in a band on Bourbon Street we played "Express Yourself" by Madonna and all of the waiters in the club transformed! Trays were put down. Customers stopped getting served drinks. Fingers were snapping. "Hey" or is it "Hays" were being bandied about.

This is a sad song?

Your Song - Elton John written by Bernie Taupin

Its a little bit funny this feeling inside
Im not one of those who can easily hide
I dont have much money but boy if I did
Id buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show
I know its not much but its the best I can do
My gift is my song and this ones for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that its done
I hope you dont mind
I hope you dont mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while youre in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well theyve got me quite cross
But the suns been quite kind while I wrote this song
Its for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see Ive forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes Ive ever seen
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I don't know . It may be the melody, the music...

Besides the verse

"Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the suns been quite kind while I wrote this song
Its for people like you",

It's not like love is clearly both ways, it's like Elton just dicovered he's in love, or in this process, in a beautiful surprise.

For me it's like when you are discovering love, like when you fall in love with your best friend. There's pure love, like when you're a teen. No innuendo of a "passionate" fantasy.

Anyways... Interpretations... Thoughts...

BTW, I said sad, meaning the guy is dreaming about love, what's not bad at all.

Thanx for the quote. Love it!

Tori Amos should cover this one.

Toriedit.
