why even the press is referring to the Backstreet Boys' current tour as a reunion?

They didn't? Have they been releasing albums this whole time?

Yeah, actually.

Their last album was released November of last year.

Kevin quit, and other members have done solo mini-tours here and there, but the rest is still intact and there hasn't been a time when they weren't. Kevin's exit notwithstanding, they've been together 15 years with nothing but the normal breaks between tours and albums.

Sounds better than resuscitation or revival from the dead?

Wow. I really had no idea. That's a far more interesting story than a reunion. I'm surprised writers aren't picking up on it.

15 years is an impressive amount of time, especially considering what kind of act they are. Most boybands are lucky to hang on for 5 years, if that much. They're at a point now where they've got the original little girls who were fans all grown up and bringing their little girls to see them at shows. love

Even more impressive, is that they're still selling out arenas and stadiums this late in the game. I've got tickets to see them this September at GM Place in Vancouver -no tiny venue, that.
