Eric Benet I woke up listening to Tom Joyner and lo and behold Eric was cheesing it up with Sybil Sheppard. He sounded great. Can't wait for his new album. 'Hurricane' was an excellent, but overlooked effort. Here's a link to the in studio performance enjoy.
http://www.blackamericawe...oericbenet P.S. Tom asked him if he's over the divorce thing with Halle. He said he's enjoying love and life. He apparently attended the BET Awards with Mani (or his Sweety as he called her) and Tom noticed her too. I was waiting for Sybil to say she looks so familiar..

Coincidentally wasn't it on Tom Joyner where Prince was doing an interview before Musicology came out and they played a little clip of Call My Name a song about Mani? lol

I still think his "True to Myself" project was one of r&b/pop's finer moments. He's an amazing vocalist, Halle issues notwithstanding.

Great singer/songwriter and his personal issues don't have anything to do with his talent. People are so dang hypocritical 'round here. Folks are complaining all over the place about the dearth of good R&B music but won't even give Eric a chance cuz he cheated on his wife. If that's the case, then NONE of the legendary R&B/soul singers would be worthy of our judgmental appreciation. Didn't BET's recent recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award get a pot of hot grits thrown on his triflin' ass???

People should really give this guy a break. I met Halle and him before at seperate times (work related). Halle comes off as a bit of a flake, with severe issues. He always seems cool and very respectful to others. I think he gets a bad rap because of Halle who has put others "partners" on blast in the media through her entire career. He doesn't seem to ever air her dirty laundry, and i'm sure there's alot. If you judge him on his musical output, he is one of the few originals still out there doing it. Hurricane was an excellent album that got slept on because it wasn't radio friendly. I welcome his return. [ZUNECARD]MikeChristopher[/ZUNECARD]

My Prayer, Cracks of My Broken Heart, India, Man Enough to Cry, and Making Love are all great song IMHO but I could do without The Last Time, and Still with You. I think this was his purge album, but he said it a big hug to his daughter India.

Besides, what business is it of yours what he or anyone else does in their bedroom with another consenting adult???

I welcome his return. co- Hurricane, IMO was the best R&B album that year and should have at least been nominated for a Grammy. Eric is very nice in person and you're right that chick got issues. Not that that excuses what he did, but most people in the industry, as in life, cheat and have skeletons in their closet. If it's not illegal or hurting anyone, why should I, or anyone else, care?

That's very selective. I'm the first person to stop supporting someone once I find out how dispicable they are. There's nothing wrong with that, just like theirs nothing wrong with excusing their wretched behavior

Every dude she's been with sans her baby's daddy has left her. I'm not excusing his cheating but it ain't like Halle is some kind of saint. That chick has issues. [Edited 6/30/08 11:23am]

He is on a very short list of my favorite male vocalists. And I’ve mentioned before that True to Myself is a staple in my collection.
But I’m tired of hearing about how Halle has issues. Not to say he is the total blame but her dad did a number on her and it’s something she still struggles with. Obviously Eric has issues too as do most people in some way or another. The circumstances between them were unfortunate but that’s between them and luckily I can still enjoy their work aside from it. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off
