Depending on your interest level, you might want to consider springing for the Deluxe Edition:

Did you see the movie? I would rent that before you make a decision to buy this album. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The movie was worth watching. Very interesting stuff told. Though I found it a bit melancholy and sad. Most of them have passed on, or passed on during the height of their time. Especially James Jameson, he was so talented, but they used him and when they were done with him it was like "go away". I felt so sorry for how they treated him. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I didn't buy it because I auditioned it online before trying to purchase it and found I didn't think it was worth buying for one or 2 performances (unless I found the cd mega cheap). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

The performances were shitty but the stories the Funk Brothers (who had survived long enough to tell the tale) was great. Other than that, there were a LOT of errors with that movie.
One dude, who's a jazz musician (I think) said "Deputy Dawg could've been on the joint (with the Funk Brothers playing) and it would still sound good or something." I remember thinking "after seeing those performances, the artists are one portion that make the song, you dumbass." Other than that, it was a good film.
