I might check it out if I can find it for a reasonable price....Something tells me Sony won't be that kind, though. She is back on Epic, right? Kind of funny how that worked out.

Ordered it last month along the 2nd and 3rd album cardboard remasters and the whole Shine album.
Well, it seems the remasters are delayed so I'll have to wait at least 3 weeks more

Sorry, I don't really like it. Maybe it needs to grow on me. As someone said it's very minimalist. I was expecting something with more of a pop feeling like Madonna and Kylie.

Yes, I ordered everything from cdjapan. I've had the American Shine EP for years in waiting for an album that apparently was never released out of Japan.

Interesting single. I LOVE the chorus, and HATE the verses. If you notice, the chords on the chorus are the same as Kylie Minogue's "Love At First Sight". She definitely courting the gays on this one. It's funny, with "Set Your Heart", I loved the verses and was less keen on the chorus..... I've heard some snippets of the album and there's some great stuff on there. There's one ballad in particular that's jaw droppingly good, but it's gonna be interesting to see how it all hangs together. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

waint until u listen to Rain On Me That was the "jaw droppingly good" ballad I was talking about. I heard a snippet already and it's 100% classic Cyndi. It's up there with the very best stuff she's ever done. A beautiful song. btw, do you know if that release date, May 27th, is worldwide or just the US? I was planning to buy it in HMV on the day of release, but I'm not actually sure if it's getting an official release in the UK or not. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Here in Portugal there's release that. I ended ordering the japanese version from cdjapan. It ended being the same price (w/shipping) as a normal retail sold here in my country. I ordered without even listening to a song, but now that I have listened to the entire album, I have to say it's one of the best releases of this year.

Strangely the best are the 4 that are on the ep.

I like to walk into a store, pick up the CD, pay cash and leave. Looks like I'll have to join everyone else and order it from Amazon. I heard some snippets and I know there's some great stuff there. I love "Rain On Me", and that one where she sings "He must have lost his soul". Unlike her pop peers, Cyndi's talent is still intact, although I still don't approve of these producers. Not that she's gonna care what I think of course, lol. She's promoting the album in Japan at the moment. Here she is being interviewed and performing "Set Your Heart". I have no idea what that thing on her head is, lol. Anyway, it's a great (and funny) performance. How many other pop stars can stand on a bare stage by themselves with no dancers or props singing to a backing track and be this entertaining?

the opening line (which gets repeated throughout the song) is very Like a Virgin.

Well, the bass line from "Like A Virgin" is taken directly from The Four Tops, and the arrangement is leaning heavily on "Billie Jean" so..... “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Does anyone else think that this single "Into the Nightlife" sounds like two totally different songs spliced together? It's like the chorus and the verses sound totally different. What's frustrating is that I think the chorus is BRILLIANT, but the verses don't really do it for me. I've got a feeling this album is gonna be a patchy affair. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

On first listen to the album (2 days ago), I like it but I'm not crazy about it. I think sometimes it's a little too minimalist and veers toward repetitive club mix territory, but overall I like it and I'll be returning to it as soon as I make my way through everything else I've bought/downloaded in the last week. and think about how you're treating me now. Then try to reconcile them, if you can. But you don't even remember, do you?"

She just filmed the video for "Into the Nightlife", and some kind souls were there with mobiles to document the moment, lol.
