Always saw this album but was hesitant to pick it up. I'm familiar with "Goodnight Tonight." Cool song and thanks for posting.

The drum pattern reminds me of "Footsteps In The Dark", bit faster though.

I like the whole album. Not full of hits, but oveall it's better than At The Speed Of Sound, because this album only has 3, 4 decent songs...
Arrow Through Me meant a much to me in the winter months of 2003.

Paul was totally in tune with the times with tracks like this. It's not exactly important, but it's got a fantastic melody, and it would fit neatly into any FM radio format.

I really like the Back To The Egg album. A lot of variety on it.
Arrow Through Me and Goodnight Tonight were Paul's stab at funk and disco respectively.
I have Paul's 3 disc DVD retrospect and was bummed to find Arrow Through Me excluded. As well as the whole Back To The Egg TV special which had like 5 or 6 videos from the album. Oh well, you can't have it all. Or can you?

I liked this album - Old Siam Sir is a little too chasing the punk trend for my liking - but Getting Closer is a classic McCartney Rocker. Much of the album is flller - but id completely forgotten about this one - a cool little track - although im always hesitant to put the words McCartney & funk together. I thought Coming Up was funkier.

Pauls 70's output was actually half decent. He had a lot of misses - but there are many gems in his 70s output to be found. I also look at the breadth of styles he covered during this period. He often record at completely different locations around the world to acheive a slightly different sound. One thing about lennons albums is that they were pretty much interchangeable - ditto George. Its a myth that Pauls Wings / solo output is 99% garbage. Id say 60/40 maybe???

Part of the problem you meant is, that he worked so often with Phil Spector. Lennon forced him to reduce his wall of sound thing, but the echoe etc... typical...
But all the songs from Double Fantasy soudn different from his other albums. The Mind Games songs are more smooth I'd say...

I think its "safe" arrangements could have gone anywhere from Imagine to Walls & Bridges. Dont get me wrong, theres some great stuff on there - but i dont think he was ever interested in experimenting with different sounds like McCartney (or even his wife, yoko) was.

"Check My Machine" from Ram II has more funk than that!
