Has Funk been replaced by hip hop and Rap as the dominant cultural movement?

I like funk however I must admit that it Kinda played out in the mainstream 30 years ago when disco came in.....

Hip Hop and Rap on the other hand has lived on and CONTNUES TO DOMINATE popular culture over 25 years later.....

funk only had a good run from 1960-1975.....

rap and hip hop seems to be challenging rock n roll as the most popular genre ever....

Do you think it will be the dominant genre?

Yes!!

And Shakespearean pros will go the way of Betamax once Prince's poetry on the '21 nights' package has been released.

Your analysis is so fundamentally flawed, it forces me to point out you even posted it in the wrong forum.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Funk didn't die when disco came in. Funk lived on during the disco era and it also lived on after disco's "death" in 1979. Funk lived on and dominated R&B radio (not pop radio) until 1984. 1985 is when funk started getting scarcer and scarcer after Shitney Houston's success and influence. Funk lingered around until around 1989 though.

Hip Hop and Rap on the other hand has lived on and CONTNUES TO DOMINATE popular culture over 25 years later.....

That's because major corporations took over and monopolized the record labels and radio stations during the 1990s. Nothing is cheaper to make than shit hop so they were going to be sure that nothing else could come in and overthrow it. No other style has lasted that long. Five, ten years tops, and styles changed on their own naturally. Of course, the other styles didn't have the help keeping (forcing) them alive that shit hop has.

CORRECTION: Funk has a very good that lasted until 1988. You can not overlook synth-driven funk or go-go.
