Does Prince regret "Praising" Amy Winehouse?

Does he really like her style or was he reaching out to help her...trying to prevent the inevitable?

Nah i think he liked her style. she's an artist who really nods towards the old school - which i think is what resonates with prince. That and she had some quality songs - it wasnt just about the hype. With prince it always comes back to the music.

to add to that...her problems have nothing to do with her music. If you think about it, she gets into trouble when she isn't doing music.

why in the world would he "regret" it?
she's talented.
she's also wrestling with addiction.

one has nothing to do with the other.

Right on!

If Prince should regret anything, it should be changing his lyrics by removing curse words - WFT! so hypocritcal.

Prince is mad at London because he told them to take care of Amy!

I don't think he's naive, he's worked with people who did drugs. And as mentioned before, I think he liked her old school soul leanings, as he's been leaning lately.

her behavior doesn't change the quality of her album. i don't understand how a person is supposed to enjoy the music one minute, and because the artist turns into a tabloid trainwreck, you're supposed to think it's crap the next minute. makes no sense.

that's fine and well, but if you liked her album and then because of her cracky behavior decided it was a bad album, i'd think you were nuts. it's still the same music, either way. that's my only point. if you don't like it from the get-go, that's just how it goes. shrug

"back To Black" is an overrated album IMHO. "Frank" was a superior album showing off her voice and guitar skills.

Let me ask U people a question - If Marsha Ambrosius (A REAL singer I might add) from Floetry released "Back To Black" with or without all of Amy's media hype - would she be as successful?

Tried many flavours - but sooner or later, always go back to the Purple Kool-aid!

sharon jones recorded an album with the dap kings which has a sound very similar to 'back to black', and it's been doing just fine.

"Doing fine" is not the same as the mass approval that's been undeservedly heaped on Winehouse who is a less talented vocalist IMO than Sharon King. shrug So to answer your question Dre, "No."

Dance

Of course he does

It's not like she looks like this

and would bang him

Seriously though, when he praises random pop artists it means very little other than he wants to be mentioned by their fanbots and the various people reporting on that popular artist or he may want to use them at some point

...and he may want to bang them

You are so right. This happens alot, especially on this board. You have alot of people on this board that do that or just because a singer is singing "other people's music" they look to rip that singer apart. This baffles me.

all of Prince's faves have used drugs, and some hard drugs at that. I don't think he'd like to hang out with her, but he connected with her music, and I doubt that has changed. She was already fucked up when he sang with her onstage.

My view is, most people that are trying to keep a clean image won't come out and support or brag on abilities if that person (Amy) purposely does wrong/bad things. It not about talent. Would he "take her under his wing" now? Counsel her, from a celebrity/career stand point? Or will he be like most people did, Michael Jackson and distance or stay she's crazy for doing thisand that?
Isn't this why he distanced from Vanity, years ago?

Why would he? Issues aside, she's got talent, and that's more than can be said for a lot of young female artists.
