The Bee Gees "Reaching Out" (1979)

The best song on the 'Spirits Having Flown' album music

Here's a nice demo version from 1978 that I found

Lovely song. This was released as a single in Chile but as far as I know it wasn't issued anywhere else.
Got to number 4, too. smile

The title track is my fave from this album. music

This album had so many potential hits,it was ridiculous lol The three singles ("Too Much Heaven","Tragedy" and "Love You Inside Out") all went to Number One here in America so they could have easily released a fourth single here.I would have picked "Reaching Out".

The title track is my fave from this album. music

That's a nice song,too.

I always thought Living Together and I'm Satisfied were obvious singles, but folk didn't generally release more than three or four singles per album back then.
Still, the album sold well over 20 million so I guess they were happy enough with that.

That's right. In those days, artists didn't really "milk" an album dry.A new album was always right around the corner,so they would just release 2 or 3 singles and quickly move on to the next project.I remember thinking that Donna Summer's 'Bad Girls' album could have had numerous singles, but they stopped at three. They had to: by late summer of '79,she had two "new" singles all ready to go,from her next album, lol.

I think Fleetwood Mac were the first to score four top 10 hits from one album with Rumours. And deservedly so. smile

Apparently, there is a compilation of demos from this album.Contains three outtakes: "In The Heat Of The Night","Save Your Heart For Me" and an instrumental (title is unknown).

Any word on the remasters? I don't like having only a greatest hits set from artists with big catalogs, and that's the case with them.

In The Heat Of The Night was also worked on during the Living Eyes sessions.
It's supposed to be a pretty good track so hopefully it'll end up on the remastered edition.

Yeah, seems to be available only as an expensive import. I just checked amazon.com and mistermaxxx is on there giving it some praise. lol
You'd probably be better off waiting for the remaster.

His falsetto sounds like Mickey Mouse auditioning for the Temptations.

I like it alot better than 'Rumours'.The last song "I'm So Afraid" is probably my favorite Fleetwood Mac song of all music

As for 'Tusk'....I'm still trying to get into that album. It's very good for the most part but something stops me from calling it a masterpiece.

I'm So Afraid is a great track but I always thought it came across better live.

As for Tusk, it's the only double album I like all the way through. Magnificent stuff.
I'm gonna listen to it now, in fact. biggrin

Cloudy, gimme two or three albums to look for? I know CD copies may be hard to find, so I'm good with whatever might be okay to find used on vinyl as well.

Odessa (1969)
Main Course (1975)
One (1989)
Still Waters (1997)

Thanks! I'll look into these...except maybe One. lol At least not now anyway. VH1 used to play out that title track in 1989 when it was first out.
