There was an answer record to Oran 'Juice' Jone's song "The Rain"....anybody remember that one? It was basically a lady talkin' mess...lol...giving her point of view on why she was cheating. She said stuff like....

Oh,so you noticed that I was walkin' in the rain with someone else? That's the first thing you've noticed about me in months!

One of the earliest and funniest

"Work with me Annie" By Hank Ballard and the midnighters 1954, Annie was a rather footloose and unlucky girl. The music itself was rather raunchy R and B started by Louis Jordan and the Dominoes 60 minute man (very early Prince style) The first answer record was Sexy ways , then Annie had a baby, Annies Aunt Fanny and so on all in 1954

Another answer record was Annie had a humbug.

But then in 1955 Etta James did an answer record "Roll with me Henry" forcing a man into Annies Predicament, and the midnighters responded with "Henry's got flat feet, can't dance no mo"

Also in 1957 The Silhouettes "Get a Job" and the Miracles response in 1958 "Got a Job" written by 18 year old Smokey Robinson for someone he was trying to impress called Berry Gordy.
17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince
