From Kanye West's blog... I AIN'T GOT NOTHING AGAINST ICE T OR NOBODY FOR THAT MATTER BUT I GOTTA RIDE WITH SOULJA BOY.. 06.21.2008 Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain't Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain't even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it's 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Niggas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning... that's Nas level shit... he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas shit if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track "Silent Murder" on it. In closing... new niggas get ya money$$$$$ Keep this shit fresh and original.... ain't no fuckin' rules to this shit and that's what real hip hop is to me. ----- Is he being for real? He can't be. He's got to be kidding. Right? Please tell me he's joking. Damn, soon as I think I can't hate Kanye even more, he goes & says some dumb sh*t like this. Are u kidding me?!

I know you like jazz but I don't insinuate that you bump John Tesh or that everything is snooze jazz, but that's the kind of generalizations I hear about on rap - the worst of the worst. You're overlooking a lot of talent by making that statement. Nothing 2 get over. 4 the record, I don't care 4 jazz but at least those cats are muscially creative. I can't say that 4 rap. I'm sorry you are unable to see its creative value. Good bye.

That "Lollipop" song is some stupid ignorant crap. Kanye West is simply a Cheerleader for this type of music because he knows that the same people who buys his music..also buys Lil'Wayne. So, he ain't tryin' to rock the boat..

I own music from, and respect...all your choices..
I wouldn't put any of them in the "SHIITY HIP HOP" catagory... Im talking about GARBAGE "so called artists" that have nothing to offer.... All the people you choose know their History !!! they get my respect... NWF said: Bishop31 said: Um, I think these guys would say otherwise about that: [Edited 6/25/08 6:32am]

part of soldier boys response shows why most hip hop artist don't have longevity. Hip Hop is the only genre where a artist is not allowed to age. If you get old in hip hop all of a sudden you are too old to do it and you are considered lame. soldier boy even said in his response he doesn't plan on having a career in music at Ice Ts age, but I'm sure the rolling stones never thought to themselves "once we get pass 30 its time to hang it up, nobody rocks after 30".
thats my main issue with soldeir boys response, rappers don't think ahead that they are setting themselves up for failure because they too will age eventually. I agree with others when they say that Ice is wrong in saying that soldier boy killed hip hop.Rap in general has declined way before soldier boy came on the scene. [Edited 6/25/08 11:32am]

AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! Very well said Graycap - this is a genre that is full of talentless musicians that are all full of themselves! The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

So, wait, 'Nye basically says that Soulja boy stole BOTH the style AND the beats from Nas, even citing the exact song, but ends THIS rant by saying the dude is fresh AND original. If you talking about Body Count song Cop Killa, Ice-T advocated killing rogue cops that are above the law (like the ones guilty of police brutality), NOT all cops in general. In the near future, if you're going to give a negative criticism about any artist, do a better job with your research.

Ice T was on Family Feud....the celebrity edition.....last night He's lame for going after a kid. Soulja Boy admitted his music wasn't meant to be serious. He's just a kid having fun. Why is he such a threat? I do admire his DIY promotion via the net. looking for you in the woods tonight Switch FC SW-2874-2863-4789 (Rum&Coke)

Rap is dead because its the mainstream! Its the pop music of this generation.... where they went wrong was doing songs with corky acts! A "gangster" rapper will probably do a song with Hanna Montana.
They will do stuff with Justine Timberlake , anyone.. its not cool anymore. They are all just a bunch of sell outs! NOW add that no one can rap anymore - or lets say everyone raps now! Every kid on every street corner thinks he can rap and really they can - 50 Cent is awful on the mic, but you add the production and promotion he is pushed like the second coming Rap is Dead and I am happy to see that!!! Rap hasnt been cool for a decade. If you ask me really Rap hasnt been good since the mid 1980's with it was underground/punk!
