Danny Wilson -Davy http://www.youtube.com/wa...QgyXaU4Y-U
'Davy" From their 1987 album "Meet Danny Wilson". Marys Prayer was the semi-big hit from this set, but the entire album is top notch, and ranks as one of personal all-time faves. Vocally they bore a strong resemblence to Steely Dan. Musically, the arrangements were complex but still maintained strong pop sensibilities and killer hooks. Although released in 1987, this album is still f-r-e-s-h. A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.

I was about to do a thread on them! Danny Wilson is Still one of my favorite groups!! (I also love Gary Clark's solo album, "Ten Short Songs About Love" ... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

I still trip on how good 'Meet.." is. My copy is on tape, but Amazon has the cd(import) for like 18 bucks, so thats next on my list. I bought the follow up, Be-Bop Mop Top when it was released, but I never really gave it a chance because I was so stuck on the debut. I'll have to revisit that one this weekend. Also had no Idea that Gary Clark had a solo project til I saw a clip on youtube(God bless'em). Are they still together(recording/touring)? A happy face, A Thumpin Bass, For A Lovin' Race. PEACE.
