Chante Moore's "Love The Woman"

This album is great. I just downloaded it from emusic and am really impressed with it. It is a true return to good r&b/jazz music for Chante. I am so glad this is a good album (and not another duet album). I HIGHLY recommend it.

I'm curious about this CD.Who produced the songs? Chante Moore is one of my favorites but I've been waiting for her to get back to basics and make a really good album again.I love her first two albums....is this new album a return to form?

She's working George Duke again, Raphael Saadiq and Warryn Campbell. Covers Minnie Riperton's Give Me Time and Nancy Wilson's Guess Who I Saw Today. Some songs are on her myspace. I like Ain't Supposed to Be This Way and First Kiss is a nice jazzy tune.

It Ain't Supposed To Be This Way is the first single (serviced to radio). I'm not that crazy about that song, but the cd is KILLER.

Yeah i've already checked it out. So far i like a few of the songs but
the cd doesn't seem to wow me like some of her past cd's.

I don't particularly care for when she does songs that sound like regular old R&B stuff that's on the radio. I like her first album and the more jazzy material. That's what drew me to her in the first place. I also like some of the Jam & Lewis songs.

Same here!! I like her first two albums because it was something different than the usual,hip-hop-sounding R&B that was being played on the radio during that time. The songs were classy, melodic and very musical....even jazzy at times.THAT'S the Chante Moore I want to hear.I lost interest when she started working with people like Jermaine Dupri and began sounding like any other R&B diva on the radio.

I just picked up this new CD but haven't had a chance to listen to it yet.

I got the album but I'm not really impressed with it boxed There's too much generic,typical-sounding,midtempo R&B here, which is exactly what I was afraid there would be.Vocally,Chante sounds great....singing like an angel. She has a smooth, really sexy voice wink The problem lies in the production.I don't know....maybe this album will grow on me? The sound is so predictable.

I do like a few songs.

My sentiments exactly. Lalah Hathaway's new cd is the same. What's wrong with the creative process these days?

I have no idea, but so many of today's R&B albums put me to sleep. What's with all this boring, predictable, midtempo music??

It all sounds the same, in my opinion. That's why I don't listen to my radio that much anymore. Nothing sounds inventive or new. 90% of today's music is just "corporate controlled," as I like to call it.

Thanks for the review. This is what I was afraid of. I really like her voice and was looking forward to hearing some quality material from her. I like very little contemporary R&B so if it doesn’t fit into my little selective box then I’m not interested. If I really like a person’s voice sometimes I’ll overlook the quality but for the most part I don’t care for it. Maybe I’ll download a few songs from iTunes and skip the album.

A few of the tracks sounds like the stuff Keyshia Cole does confused the best tracks are the jazzy-sounding ones.

I pretty much agree with soulalive. I picked up my copy on wednesday.
Her voice is still lovely as ever but the production on most of the
material sounds generic which is surprising coming from chante.
Some of it definitely has to grow on me.

I liked the New CD Love The Woman....My favs are the remakes OF COURSE and First Kiss,Special & Title cut is nice.....I do believe she LOVES Minnie Riperton cause on more than a few occasions she makes reference that she LOVES Minnie and i can see her doing a Covers CD of Minnie Riperton songs, I WOULD buy that in a heart beat. Back to the CD, I LOVE IT...She is on tour with Norman Brown until Sept 21 and i hope she hits the road to promote.....SO UNDERRATED.

I really like the CD. I was never a Chante Moore fan until a friend introduced me to her. So, I don't come to her music with preconvieved notions of how it "should" sound like. I own her first album and this one.

I think it's solid throughout, and I LOVE "Special", "Love Action" and 'Guess Who I Saw Today." The bonus track - "This could be the Start of Something Big" is also killer.

A great combination of classic R&B, upbeat grooves, and jazz-infused songs.

I've listened to it several times this weekend and I think its her best since "This Moment Is Mine". It's not as good as that, but its a good one. At times, the album sounds "dated" to me, but its still good.

I wasn't too crazy about 'The Moment Is Mine' boxed When she released that album,I began to lose interest. Her music began sounding like other R&B divas on the radio.Jam and Lewis' production was boring and uninspired.I disliked the next album 'Exposed' even more.

My favorite Chante Moore album is 'A Love Supreme',her second album. It's so sexy, lush and dreamy music That album and the debut are must-haves.

Notice how I put it...."her best since "This Moment Is Mine"" wink

I actually found A Love Supreme kind of boring...(good, yet not for me). I loved "This Moment Is Mine" because it seemed like they were trying to make her appeal to a more contemporary audience. I really loved "I Cry To Myself", "If I Gave Love", "Easy" and "Love and the Woman". I think she was in a happy place when she did this album (She had just gotten with Kadeem Hardison when she did this one). To me, Exposed was all about how upset she was because the marriage wasn't going well.

Yep, true on both Chante and Lalah's new one. I wasn't overly impressed. And people who ask me about them want to know if they should buy both cds. I tell them they're ok- because I want folks to support both of them.

I even made sure I bought Chante's from Circuit City to get the bonus track.
