Singers That You Wish Could Record Again

Just thinking about the voices that I miss hearing either due to death or other reasons and number one on that list for me has to be Luther Vandross rose Miss that beautiful voice. What other singers do you miss? Were they one-hit wonders or did they pass away? smile

John Lennon, though I'm sure most of his songs would be mediocre.

Marvin Gaye, although it'd be the same like with Lennon.

anyone else???

Well, Nile Rodgers gonna release a new Chic album. Would be cool if it was as good as the early CHIC stuff but without BERNARD EDWARDS it won't be possible.

So, those three I wish wold be alive Lennon, Gaye and Edwards

Billy Joel. Mainly because i feel he still has it in him to do a back to his roots album. I mean Elton pulled out "song from the west coast" and "the captain and the kid" late in his career. Age has nothing to do with it, Billy did choose to walk away and that is greatly respected, but he has to have that ONE album in him. And im not talking about coming back and doing some shit like a Santana "supernatural" with a bunch of guests and HIP people, im talking bare bones like a "Cold Spring Harbor", bring back instruments like the Saxophone, which Springsteen doesnt even use anymore!

You know she only does that every 10 to 15 years. lol

I wish Luther was still around. I really miss seeing him live. I have seen him live more than any other artist. I miss his voice live....it was better than the recording every time.

Also, I wish that En Vogue (the original lineup) would do another album. There is a certain vocal chemistry that Dawn, Max, Teri and Cindy possess that Rhona or anyone else could not capture. I liked their last album "Soul Flower" ok, but it just wasn't an En Vogue album....it was just another girl group album.

I also wish Johnny Gill would record another GOOD album. I'm tired of compilations and New Edition repackages.

Also on the list:
Marvin Gaye
Toni Braxton
Midnight Star
Atlantic Starr (with Sharon Bryant)
The Jacksons
Maze featuring Frankie Beverly

Well, I wouldn't want any of these people to record today, since they'd probably make boring contemporary sounding shit. Instead, here are some people that I would've loved seeing record more music back in the day. Off the top of my head...

Glenn Goins
Slave w/ Steve Arrington
The Brothers Johnson w/ Quincy Jones
Marvin Gaye
Rick James

Dozens and dozens of smooth soul acts that only had one or two records before fading into obscurity.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.
