Its a great video with a good concept and the song is well done.
Its too bad he chose to use sensationalism and the "trigger word" as a springboard to launch his message. I honestly believe that though he is well intentioned, he is shooting himself in the foot with this.

He's shooting hisself on the foot for the Malcolm X nod alone People are STILL scared shitless in their boots of Malcolm, and anybody who wants to be associated with him will put their career in great risk. I wasn't in that favor for Nas, but I'm starting to give him the credit,,,,just for that alone.

Nas using the 'N' word for whatever reason is why his album will flop.
Did he think using shock tactics would make somebody buy his new album. Nas needs to go and sit down somewhere with this ignorant mess.

I write poetry and sometimes I will write a rhyme, I use the n word if that is what I am moved to write. When you grow up with a mother that says things like "nigger I thought i told you to take that trash out" like it or not it becomes part of your everyday vernacular. Some see it as a term of endearment, others may have a certain disdain for it. Where I grew up damn near my whole neighborhood used this word and rather negative or positive this is the culture that I was raised.I said all that to say that consciously I think there are many people that don't see it as a "trigger word", the word is being used by black people and people of many different racial backgrounds, this is simply a reality. When I hear a song like this I listen to it in the artistic sense and I try to understand what the artist is saying and I take little offense to it. If I were to watch a movie with the N word being used I have to look at it in the context of the film, the scene and what the whole story is about.

It IS hard quitting the word when everybody around you use it. I havent' used it for the past 2 years(except for a very few rare moments), and even though I didn't preach to anybody about refraining from using it, somehow my friends caught up with the change I went through and stopped saying it in front of me. the song is crazy. people hark up about the word nigger but its context is spoken in terms of social commentary as opposed to derogaty terms most rappers seem to use it for in the mainstream. appreciate the lyrics and philosophy before hastily discrediting God's son, the new album will be something to look out for. for more check his dj lantern nigger mixtape and the track black presidents ft. tupac and obama

As far as growing up with the term/being surrounded by people using it...
While that's true and is a reasonable EXCUSE, I'm sure every person can say that they grew up in a community or family where certain things were acceptable that really shouldn't be. We all mature or just step outside of our environments and realize some things are just wrong and usually make a conscious effort to change, unless you just don't give a fuck and are content to be as filthy and worthless as those you've come to recognize as such. I know in certain situations, depending on the people, I'm quick to shut down certain things. I don't want to get into some of the bs some have spouted around me coming up, but I can say that even when I was a kid, I saw that nonsense for what it was and made the choice from then to reject all of that. I don't see why grown ass people can't do the same.

I have a low tolerence for holeir than thow people who ignore social conditioning and at like everything is black or white and comes down to a simple choice. I did it so why can't you, even when I was a kid etc. We all have our flaws and things that we need to work on.

Wow. I love Nas, but I don't know about this.
I'm feeling the intro and outro, though. The actual song...it's just too much. Maybe I'm missing something.
