JANET on Ryan Seacrest Morning Show...talks about tour

Janet was on Ryan Seacrest this morning in LA and she gave couple hints about the upcoming tour...

The interview almost seemed pre-recorded or something. Until she said 'Ryan' I thought he was reading from a script.

Here's what she said..

1) She's trying to get in as many of her singles as possible from 'Control' to 'Discipline' and POSSIBLY even before 'Control'

2) She had to cut 5 songs and is down to 45 songs and needs to make more cuts.

listen here..

i know.

if you just look at ANY moderate success she's had with her last 3 'flop' albums (debuting at number 1, call on me, feedback, etc), it's just icing on the cake really. but then it's sad to think of times for us die-hards (1986-2001) where anything she touched turned to gold and was a hot out of the box smash (a couple singles from TVR being the exception).

as much as I love Got Til It's Gone now, it was a poor leadoff single for that album.

i think they were just going for the same strategy that worked so well with janet. mid tempo, urban-sounding lead single, big dance number second. GTIG perplexed the hell out of me the first few listens, but after seeing the video a couple times and hearing it a few more, it instantly became my favorite Janet song - shit, i think it's my favorite SONG ever - maybe tied with Creep and Vivrant Thing. Anyway, never been so pumped for a janet album before or since as i was for TVR based on the first single. that song is still the JAM! it still sounds fresh to this day (to me at least). i love the ATCQ vibe of that song, the sample, it's JJ and TL's finest hour.

i don't think it was - it may have not been a top ten hit in the states, but it was a hit everywhere else in the world.

It still gets played today in clubs

She said she's still paring down the setlist. The final setlist won't be 45 songs. Duh.

If I see the following I will scream

1)Courtjesters, balloons, ala 'Escapade / Miss U Much' medley of AFU and TVR tours
2)The same 'Nasty/ WHYDFML / When I think Of You'

If she wants to cover all her era's from 'Control' on...she should break it up in new themes...maybe similar type tracks from each album per segment...

something like a 'FUNK' segment and have...Nasty, Rhythm Nation, If, Go Deep, Dont Stop, Feedback as one segment....

I dont know...something different damnit!

I was thinking a neo soul / funky breakdown section with

Got Til It's Gone
I Get Lonely
What Have You done for me lately (she should cover the sharon jones cover, ha)
Like You Don't Love Me
Can't B good (with a Rhodes keyboard...)

or an old school disco set with fro's and rollerskates

2Nite
Rock With U
R&B Junkie
All For You

...anything but the whimsical!

I didn't like Got til it's Gone, until i saw the on the Velet Rope tour, it was odd to me when it came out. But I have to agree with you, it's her best. The whole album means soo much to me, it was the soundtrack to me coming out. I still love it more than anything she's ever done.

The only group I have ever felt compelled to watch play so many songs is 311 - bought the 2004 311 Day In New Orleans DVD a few weeks ago. But Janet might do a good job of it, too. I think that with what concert tickets can go for, it's a nice balance-out.

I think got till it's gone has aged like fine wine. I wasn't that crazy about it though I did like it when it came out, but now I hear it at stores or I hear people list it as one of janet's best songs.

Got till its Gone has the greatest groove and a funky a$$ beat, but i never got over how horrid her vocals are, its the only thing to me that ruins the song. When i first heard i couldn't figure out what she was saying.
