Canceling Shows
Sucks, but doesn't piss me off Refusing to Play Old Hits I want my artist to be interested/inspired when they're performing rather than giving me some overcooked performance of a song or just a few chords of it, so I don't mind them retiring songs. No one ever really does that anyway. They usually just take a break from it. They're friggin human, they can have a damn break. Go download an old performance or buy a boot. Letting Record Distributors Conduct Pissing Wars with Your Music It's not a big deal really. Retiring Over and Over and...Over Again You won't catch me messing with an artist like that or at one of their "last shows," so who cares. Being Extremely Egotistical Some artists are complete tools, and really they should all STFU and play, but I can't say it really matters to me if I love their work. Becoming Wussies Doesn't really piss me off it just sucks and they lose my interest in their newer work. Ignoring Who Your Fans Are Ignoring who BUILT you, lame Ignoring casual fans(for the most part), not too bad Money Grabbing If being money hungry means that you're playing my area damn near all the time and that your live shows are tight as hell, LOVE IT If being money hungry means your face on pencils, your music in car commercials, and working with shit hop producers, HATE IT, but I'd still mess with the good pre-jackass material. Becoming Uselessly Drunk or High Before a Show Everyone has their moments, but consistently screwing people over...effed I'd still mess with their stuff though just not their shows Be Metallica Who cares? They didn't do anything and everyone knew they wouldn't.

@ If you bought a Nickelback CD, you already lose at life. "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I agree with and like a lot of what’s written here, and there’s some nice humor.
But in the same spirit… 1) Hating wussies in one breath, then suggesting that there’s a certain wisdom in political correctness if it exists for the sake of album sales. And then later insulting money grubbers? Cut to fan in audience shouting at Sinead O’Connor to play “Nothing Compares 2 U” between every damn song. Sinead’s eventual response: “Fuck you!” And I’m pretty sure that she didn’t commission a survey beforehand to see how that opinion would go down with her paying demographic. 2) Sticking up for people who buy their tickets with a show in mind, rather than doing a modicum of research beforehand. “Oh, they said they wouldn’t be playing hits, perhaps I should actually consider this before plunking down my hard-earned money? Nah, too much work.” 3) Acting as though people who choose to buy things from an artist are now the owners. “Jump monkey jump. I don’t give a damn if you feel like it or not. I made you and I can break you. And I bought you for tonight at your ridiculously inflated prices and you will do as I the consumer demand! If you please me you can stay on this pedestal I’ve constructed for you. If not, you’re dirt, motherfucker! Cut to a patron walking into a library and acting the boss because he or she pays taxes. 4) Greed is awful. But paying whatever price is asked isn’t any better. The prices are set carefully by demand. If the demand isn’t there, the prices will either drop or the performer will retire. You won’t die if you don’t see your favorite artist; even if he or she is a greedy asshole. Yes, they’re almost certainly exploiting your weakness for their own greed. That would be two problems. 5) How is holding grudges acting any better than these egomaniacs? “Well, they were an asshole first. They started it!”
