As for Arquette not being "fun to watch", I'd take that comment seriously if I thought it was an unbiased one, but I don't think it is. Like I said, Madonna's character really doesn't have to do much at all. She's just a blank canvas really. She has to be cool, aloof and a bit flirty. Hardly a stretch for the Madonna of 1984.

It's another good example of how lucky she has been in her career. The character is so close to herself that it's remarkable. You couldn't plan that. It just happened that this film was being made at the perfect time for Madge. Evita was another example of that. Both career defining moments that seemed almost sent from heaven for her. Anyway, love the film. I give props to the writers, director, cast and everyone involved.

It's a fun, very eighties comedy. Even more goofy than "Desperately Seeking Susan". I think it was classifed as a screwball comedy (which was a genre popular in...what, the 1940's?). Very absurd storyline but Madonna has a lot of fun in it. It's a renter for sure. Probably not easy to find the DVD in stores as it only a came out maybe last year or so and most places don't ordered back titles that often.

If you know stores that still rent videos, they might carry it. Better yet, check to see if there are video stores that are dumbing their VHS stock. There might still be some. I recently found a Hollywood Video in Ann Arbor with one of the largest selection in the city (and maybe one of the largest country for a brick and mortar....they really carry some rarer titles on DVD including TV DVDs) and they have a ton of videos they are getting rid of (sadly, I think a lot of good stuff is gone). I recently broke down and bought a copy of "The Virgin Tour" (haven't watched it yet, though).

DSS is the only truly good Madonna movie.

For shits and giggles, try "Body of Evidence" or "Swept Away." The others are straight up unwatchable. Although her acting in that piece of shit "Dangerous Game" is the best she's ever done...

My God, I saw about four minutes (maybe three minutes) of "Swept Away". I couldn't make it any further. It was SOOOOO bad. It made "Graffiti Bridge" look like "Citizen Kane". If you'd given the cameras to a bunch of random amateurs on the street you would've gotten something better than that. Shocking, even by Madge standards.

It wasn't until I heard all the praise for "The Look Of Love" that I really started to apperciate it it. The title track is maybe my favorite Madonna track ever but "Causin A Commotion" is a better dance track while "Can't Stop" is total Madonna filler.

Desperatley seeking susan is brilliant. Ilove 80's madonna. she is so cool and sexy in this movie. Every teenage girl wanted to be her. it has a great sory too. i could tell u evry line from it as i have seen it so much. love her boots that are sparkly rolled down. HATE her style now. she was the bomb back then but she is so dull now.

That's pretty much how I feel. In spite of everything, '80s Madonna had it going on. If she'd retired in 1991, I'd probably have warmer feelings toward her, but she's turned into a real embarrassment, not just to herself but to us as a culture that we are still celebrating someone so ridiculous.

I love this movie, it's the only Madonna movie I can watch (apart from Evita)
