Pharrell made Madonna cry in studio By Henry Adaso, about.com
Tuesday May 27, 2008 Everyone has a Madonna story these days, but this one tops them all. In a recent ABC Nightline interview, Madonna revealed that hip-hop producer Pharrell Williams (of the Neptunes) brought her to tears during a recording session for Hard Candy. "I was singing and I didn’t understand the rhythm that he wanted me to sing in," said Madonna, "and he was kind of giving me a hard time and I was sort of taken aback by the way he was talking to me, so I said 'You know what? we need to talk.'" She adds, "We went upstairs and I said, 'You can't talk to me like that,' and burst into tears. And he said, 'Oh my god, Madonna has a heart!' I started crying even more, and we had it out. Now I love him and we make great music together, but I think we had to go through that." The Neptunes (Pharrell & Chad Hugo) contributed 8 tracks to Madonna's hip-hop-heavy album. Actually,The Neptunes contributed seven tracks to 'Hard Candy' (I don't count "Ring My Bell" since it only appears on the Japanese import) while Timbaland contributed five tracks  | |

They're so used to yes men that their lil fragile egos can't handle the truth. If I was Pharrell, (after my check cleared) I'da told her to kiss my ass and get back in the booth and try to sing on key.

Somehow Madge gets cool points for this too... She's the ultimate diva, and she knows it. That she can admit Pharrell cut through her crap and turned her world upside down (she says this wasn't a delicate, little cry; but that she was bawling  , spitting snot and whatnot ) is an impressive confession. She made a remark on 106th and Park about Pharrell texting while they were supposed to be working. Its obvious they had different styles and work habits.
I say FUCK PHARRELL. That sumbitch is the laziest producer in R&B/hip-hop. A lot of his collabos are straight GARBAGE. That weak ass cheerleader shit he did with Gwen Stefani - garbage. That lame ass "Wanna Love You Girl" bullshit he did with Robin Thicke - garbage. The only reason he's doing the Madonna gig is because he's hot with the kids and she worships popularity. Dude has some talent but in my opinion, 85% of the time his output is JUNK. Fred Sanford wouldn't even pick that shit up. The only time he seems to put out anything that's halfway tolerable is when he's working with rappers or occasionally with his N.E.R.D. projects and even then its nothing ground-breaking. It just goes to show that just because you can play more than one instrument, it doesn't mean that you're great by any stretch. All I can say is that he seems to be somewhat prolific. Of course that's not that hard when all you ever do is make 4 bar loops and call it a finished song. | |

Pharrell got his groove back with this album. His songs shit all over Timbos. He'd been in a creative slump until now and I REALLY hope they release Incredible as a single (shortened of course). I'm glad Give It To Me is the next single, although most probably wouldn't even realise Pharrell did it until he speaks | |

I like Pharrell. The stuff with Kelis is incredible. Protect My Heart is beautiful!!
I think Madonna and Pharrell benefited from each other. While MadonnaÄs sound became more funky and black, Pharrell made some of his best pop songs ever. I love Pharrell, he's innovative. And I like the PW songs on HC much more. I mean, the songs with Timber-lake are lame. 4 Minutes = commercial but has no soul or depth Miles Away = i love it but it doesn't sound like Timbaland was heavily involved with it (expect for the beats) Dance 2night = Nite Runner rip off Devil and & VOices: ballads... And there must be a reason why the other 5 songs didn't make the final cut (Madonna wrote 10 songs with Timber-land) I wonder how many she wrote with Pharrell. | |

btw, I was happy to hear that Pharrell wasn't shy to speak his mind and to torture Madonna if necessary.
That was posible because Pharrell doesn't depend on Madonna while Orbit, Mirwais and Stuart Price became rich because of Madonna. One bad word and the could have been fired and earned less money... | |

I agree,the Pharrell songs are excellent.He came through with some amazing grooves.Still,my favorite song on the album is "Miles Away",which Timbaland produced
"Incredible" is my second favorite song on the album but I'm not sure if it should be a single.After "Give It To Me",the next two singles should be "Miles Away" (released in the fall just before the tour begins) and then "Beat Goes On". | |

So basically, Madonna wasn't talented enough to sing it right, Pharrell called her on it, and she cried.
