I Like John Mayer and Now Like His Music as a Result...

So a few days back, I had a lazy day and spent it on YouTube. I somehow wound up watching John Mayer singing a parody of Nelly Furtado's "Say It Right." Then I saw a clip of his interview on Jimmy Kimmel, and it had me laughing out loud. Next up I saw some various interviews and this guy is a riot. I also read some of his views on the current music situation and he is really well aware of the music scene and isn't in love with it.

It is weird because, in a lot of these clips, his music was like in the background. Now as a result of liking him, I really like some of his music. My favorite though, is that track he did with Kanye for Graduation, but apparently it didn't make the album, called "Bittersweet." (I found an mp3 of it online.)

Anyways, check out this video of him and Kanye in the studio. Good stuff.

Lastly, I was wondering, in this day and age, is it odd to like THE ARTIST before THE MUSIC? (I remember reading someone on the org saying something like, "I like John Mayer as a person but don't even like his music." lol)

Agreed X 2... But remember on his worst day as a songwriter ( I personally think he is phenom since Trio, although the song Say IMO is horrible), as a musician he is better than 90% of the persons mentioned on this board...

And to me playing an instrument well is a great STFU equalizer.... don't like my songs, fine I can still play a mean guitar....

funny I haven't met him, but I have heard he is very nice albeit somewhat sarcastic.... ala the $10 an autograph video circulating on the net.

If you can't see he is just taking a piss, then come on.

And yes he makes no excuses he loves Clapton.

Last I also think it is funny that anyone can be called difficult or full of themselves compared to Prince.

He used to write a column for a men's magazine that was pretty on point. Can't remember which one though. A friend just let me borrow his Continuum album and it's REALLY good!
