Janet's label stops all European promotion for singer's tour Janet's Label Jacks European Tour
Los Angeles (E! Online) - There are some people Janet Jackson just doesn't want to rock with. Like Europeans. And her record label. The pop icon has called off the European leg of her heavily hyped Rock Witchu tour, blaming the promotional efforts—or lack thereof—of Island Def Jam Records. "I'm trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album, so I don't think you're going to hear another single off this album," Jackson told SOHH.com. Jackson will continue as planned with the North American leg of her tour, her first in more than seven years, in support of her new album, Discipline. She also wanted to make clear that her tour cancellation and dissatisfaction with her label should not be taken as a slight against her fans. "It was definitely in my heart to go to Europe and to support this album...it's about teamwork, it's not something I can totally do on my own. "Unfortunately, things have turned out the way that they have with the differences between the label and myself." The label, as it happens, is doing its part to distance itself from the decision and resultant ire of the rhythm nation, claiming they are in the business of album, not tour, promotion. Not that they did banner work on the former, as Jackson's debut single from the new album, "Feedback," reached just No. 39 on the charts. Since its February release, Discipline has sold 392,000 copies. "Unfortunately we haven't experienced the results we would have liked with this new album," an Island Def Jam spokesperson told Billboard. "But we respect and support Janet." The North American leg of Jackson's tour kicks off Sept. 10 in Vancouver. [Edited 6/11/08 11:54am]

Jesus Christ. How many times am I going to have to make this same fucking post?
The original quote from Janet about visiting Europe: "I just want to let the fans know because I've been reading a lot what the bloggers have been saying about the record and not hearing it on the radio and stuff like that, so I just wanted to let them know where things were as well and where it was all coming from. I've heard people talking about me not coming to Europe in support of the record just to let them know that it was definitely in my heart to go to Europe and to support this album but it's about teamwork, it's not something I can totally do on my own. Unfortunately things have turned out the way that they have with the differences between the label and myself, which we have been having for the most part from the beginning. So I just want to tell them again thank you very much for all the love and all the support and I they understand the entire situation and I'm really excited to see everybody on tour. I'm really looking forward to that it's going to be a lot of fun." As you can see, this has absolutely nothing to do with the tour. She is talking about the European promotional tour for the album, which requires label support. The label has nothing to do with the tour, however. I wish people would actually read quotes and try to understand them before randomly inserting them into articles and claiming it as truth. Janet has said nothing about Europe for this tour, and I'm not sure how a tour can be "cancelled" if no dates have even been scheduled for Europe in the first place.

Janet is getting toasted in the local media. How about this 4 a quote:
I remember when my great great great grandmother listen to janet jackson when she was a girl.

her music career is starting to run parallel with that of her famous brother. first your hot then your not then you fall all apart and then some scandalous shit hits the fan resulting in the END of career as the Jackson's know it. LOVE HARD.

So basically, Michael has performed in Europe more times than Janet in the last 10 years. HA. What a joke.

Yes, I was confused by the first post. Record labels have nothing to do with concert tours. They are financed by the artist. The fact that her new album didn't do well in Europe would not stop her from going there since I'm sure she will be playing a lot of her older songs which people in Europe do know.

It's sad that she has to begin a tour with all this drama hanging over her.Perhaps she should request an emergency face-to-face meeting with LA Reid and maybe they could come up with some kind of truce/compromise.She should demand that they release a new single and promote the hell out of it.Remind them that she's doing HER part to promote the album (the tour) and that they need to step up and do their part. The way both sides are going to the media with different stories and rebuttals...that's not good for Janet or IDJ.They need to work this out asap so that the tour can run smoothly.

Well, to be fair, she doesn't actually make it clear that she's talking about an album promo tour. The way she says it sounds like she's talking about a concert tour. I'm missing my best friend Yes it was Incredible There's no reason to pretend

except her brother can actually make a comeback LOVE Janet but she made a big mistake signing with IDJ and putting Dupri in the forefront she should've gotten her brother Jermaine to do the talking "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Hardly. What? I see a rich man kicking back and taking it easy. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Hardly. Damn, Rene looks like he would have fit in perfectly in one of those Lord Of The Rings Movies. Rich or not, he should not be looking like a hobo in the street. Nah playa nah. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
