lol, this is like a funk version of Chuck Berry's "Sweet Little Sixteen". “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Thank you guys for almost triggering my memory. There was another song out about this time. R&B artist.
A minor one hit wonder. Of course I' drawing a blank right now thinking of this song but I'm not sure it was Bobby Nunn but there was a song I always associated with this one. They always seem to be played near each other on the radio . . . . Now I' frustrated that I can't remember. BTW, anyone remember a song called Songwriter circa 1982-83? It wasn't a single as far as I can recall. I want to say it was the Whispers but that doesn't sound right. . . I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

However, I have several 45s from the two and every one of them are uptempo and very Prince sounding. See my above post. . . . [Edited 6/11/08 6:36am] Andy is a four letter word.

you guys are so helpful here.
I am thinking of a black male singer, a contemporary of O'Bryan and Nunn. THe song I'm thinking of was a slow song. I keep remembering an H but not sure if was the first or last name. Right now I can't think of the song but I looked for it for years . . . We'll see if anything triggers something more specific. I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

interestingly,Bobby first offered that song to Earth Wind and Fire, who were recording a reunion album in the summer of 1987.They refused the song,so Bobby gave it to the Jets and it became a big hit for them.Personally,I think the lyrics are too "bubblegum" for the grown men in EW&F to be singing, lol.
