Major disappointments? Surprises? Favorite Singles? favorite re-issues? most anticipated things to come? etc....

Favorite new releases:
Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Pt. 1
Van Hunt - Popular (not officially released but still)

Favorite singles/album tracks:
Gnarls Barkley - Who's Gonna Save My Soul
The Roots - Rising Down (slightly disappointed in the album... but it still gets rotation)
N.E.R.D. - Sooner or Later & Happy
Dwele - Workin' On It (not a huge fan of the album... but I can't deny this track)

Favorite reissues:
Marvin Gaye - Here My Dear (Expanded Edition)
Yvonne Fair - The Bitch Is Black
Hank Ballard - You Can't Keep A Good Man Down
J*Davey - The Beauty In Distortion/Land of the Lost
Trina Broussard - Inside My Love
Amy Winehouse - Frank (Deluxe Edition)

Suprises:
Solange Knowles is not her sister and just might make me want to check out her album.

Most Anticipated:
Raphael Saadiq - The Way I See It (Sept 16)
Roy Hargrove - Earfood (July 29)

Top Ten Best Albums Of 2008 so far...

1. Coldplay - Viva La Vida
2. Madonna - Hard Candy
3. Brian Vander Ark - Brian Vander Ark

I second the Brian Vander Ark album! Former lead-singer of The Verve Pipe, he's really matured into a great singer/songwriter. This is actually his third solo album (and it was produced by legendary producer Bill Szymczyk of the 70's Eagles albums), but his first two are good too. (Actually, the last verve pipe album "underneath" is really good too). Check him out!

2008 hasn't been a great year for music IMO...

my top 4 would be

1. Erykah Badu - New Amerykah
2. The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing
3. Hot Chip - Made in The Dark
4. Janet - Discipline

***If Van Hunt's Popular had been released officially that would have been easily #1

***I still need to get N.E.R.D.'s new album as well as The Odd Couple (Gnarls Barkley) and Santogold's album
If you will, so will I
