The store is like a shoe box size, but the amount of money they generate off of imports on line and loyals that have shopped there for 20 years keep that store going while others have fallen. ith "4 minutes". coof...coof... True, I love her last 2 albums, but then, I love early 90's pop. All down to the producers, as it often is with me and pop music

I'd love to run a shop like that. Its an amazing store, a real escape when you just wanna go to a "music" store and not have to deal with the Best Buy type of stores. I did a thread on this store awhile back, you should def check out their website and see the amazing stuff they carry and can get for you too. I discovered this store in 1989 by accident when a friend saw that i bought alot of QUEEN stuff, he suggested going there because they got the imports of their singles and have been going there ever since. I mean who else is going to carry the "Cosy Prisons" cd single by a-Ha from Germany? Maybe I'm working in the wrong field...

I did music retail for so long (sam goody) and we were one of the last "chains" to stick with music, and when we closed down people said "Go to Best Buy" i was like " For what, they have nothing to do with Music". The same happened here. Usually cds are sold via large retail stores or on the satellite entertainment stores that are in the same complex. Also there are large record stores like FNAC (huge in France, Spain and here in Portugal) that dominate the market and kill little stores. Adding to this, a cd costs here 16 to 18 Euros...something like 26.59 us dollars. Music here is a luxury...That's why I buy my music using amazon.co.uk. CDS are sometimes 7 euros cheaper and get delivered to my house in 3 to 4 working days... Another example, I ordered Cyndi Lauper's "Bring..." from japan. With postage, it costed the same has it had been here released (it's only being here released in september!) [Edited 6/9/08 16:20pm]

[Edited 6/9/08 16:20pm] yeah the 3 solo records from the a-Ha members i had to order direct from their labels and distributors and yet were cheaper than if i found them here by chance, but i couldnt take that chance, they were tough to get because they were doing LTD of the releases for a bigger cut of the $$. They took 3 days from the UK and Norway. Value for real value With these 3 solo-efforts i knew it was going to be tough to get them, even here with alot of import shops, they werent getting them because of the indie-label they are on and the cost. So i knew i had to search, since "Tower Records" closed down, large stores that carry imports 24/7 are gone, Virgin Mega store gets imports but they are in real "financial" trouble here so they havent been getting many imports, in fact one of their NYC locations has lost its lease. We had a Virgin Megastore here in Oporto but it closed 8 years ago. It was the first place I ever saw a japanese edition of an album. With a OBI strip and all... Back to discussion...It's suck being a music fan. The industry doesn't suply music to the fans. I remember reading that Roberth Smith was pissed with Universal because they hadn't released the new single to the stores. He complained about that on the cure's website. No wonder people download. They only find trash and the same stuff sold on the stores.

"Give It 2 Me" was remixed by Fedde le Grand, whose "Put Your Hands Up For Detroid" was mixed together with Madonna's "Music" on the Hard Candy Promo Tour. The remix will be available on his MySpace.
