The Beatles version for me.

Beatles. what's the poing in "funking up" something that was already funky enough, in its own way, to begin with?

same goes for trying to smooth out and make pop something that was funky and soulful in its original version.

i value a good cover version, but trying to add something to a song that already had what you're trying to add to it seems pointless to me.

the Beatles. But I like the EWF version as well. Their version's smoother and stuff. But Paul does teh best version.

Even though i'm a huge EWF fan and would definitely listen to
EWF anyday over stuff by the beatles i must agree that the
beatles version is better. The song simply fits them better.
I never really cared much for EWF version because it wasn't
that trademark EWF sound but that was unique about EWF they
weren't afraid to try something new like the discoish boogie wonderland
which along with the beatles remake are my two least favorite EWF
songs. That said EWF covering this beatles tune would be like the
beatles trying to cover devotion or keep your head to the sky.

Love both bands but I would have to chose the cover. That's the version I grew up on and associate it with my childhood. The Beatles version was good, but I loved the horns on EWF.

Earth Wind and Fire's version music I actually heard their version first,so I've always been more familiar with their remake.

I like both, but I'd have to pick the cover. Strangely enough, I think it fits better with the point of the song. The laid-back, confident EW&F version would've gotten the girl while the earnest Beatles version would've been trying too hard.

Beatles. The EWF one is too smooth. The Beatles one is more joyous, but maybe I'm just more used to the Beatles version. shrug

Although I'm a relative oldhead, I'm goin with EWF on this one--and I love the Beatles....but for some reason, I always thought the original was a little too stiff, compared to some of their other work....Lennon claimed it was inspired by Stax soul, and I dunno, I used to think it was just too neat and upright...that's just me, though....

Please, it's no contest. EWF. People wouldn't have know this song existed had EWF not covered it.

You are not alone. I prefer Earth, Wind, and Fire's version way more than The Beatles version. I don't even like The Beatles original.

Even though it's not my favorite Earth, Wind & Fire song, count me in the group that prefers this version over The Beatles'. However, it's a song more associated with The Beatles, IMO.
