What you copped lately *and are still listening to*

I wanna hear what others bought and kept in rotation lately.
This is kinda better than making a bunch of new threads to discuss each item.

I can't remember if I told the forum about these purchases in the past month but these are also the CDs that I'm still carrying around.
A few of these I had already on cassette or record before but whatever.

I've been trying to get this for the longest...

Should I, Cinnie? hmmm

I got this, from Blue Note as well:

This is my 1st listen and frankly I didn't get into it that much,,,,I guess I expected a more "traditional" Brazilian-Jazz set. I'll try and give it a more open-minded listen next time, though.

Take a look at the producers/remixers on there.. if you like THOSE people then you'll enjoy it because it's really more about how they messed with those old songs or replayed them. I really liked the DJ Spinna, Madlib, J Dilla, DJ Cam, and Kenny Dope songs because, well, I like what those dudes do anyway and it was cool to hear them flip a Blue Note track.

That's cool Marni. I think I need an iPod that would hold all of these titles and allow myself to "digest" them over the summer. I'm trying to slow down on my spending.

I got some vinyl last week, and even though I always try to limit myself when spending, I ALWAYS go over my limit. lol

I got Bruce Springsteen's very first record, "Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ" which is a bit different from his usual thing. HE was trying to be more of a Bob Dylan type of songwriter so it's pretty interesting.

Bill Evans & Eddie Gomez Live @ Montreaux-Great piano/bass record. The two of them are such fantastically sensitive players, it's really a pleasure to listen to them.

Weather Report "Sweetnighter." Instead of the more composed pieces that I'm used to, the songs on this album are more extended funk jams kinda like Bitches Brew. It's a fantastic album and it's funny because the first side has a little tune called "Adios." It cracks me up because you'd think something like that would be at the very end of the album. lol

Duffy wasn't as good as I expected. She seems to sit right between Joss Stone and Amy Winehouse. Mercy is good and there's some decent stuff but I was disappointed. Mercy shows what she can do but she's tied down for most of the CD.
