Will Sting ever produce an album as brilliant as "The Soul Cages"?

confused

Jamming now to The Soul Cages...well...the first 3 solo album are perfect, being Nothing like the sun...the one of the albums of the 80's.

After TSC, Sting really lost it.Only some tunes like Lithium sunset are nice...

I think Mercury Falling is as good as The Soul Cages. It might not be as deep or conceptual, but the quality of the songs is as high and it's beautifully produced.

I loved Blue Turtles and the Bring on The Night video, but dropped out after Nothing Like The Sun . Sting seemed to became less brilliant and more whiny (that stupid song about werewolves did it). Maybe my attitude will change when I add on the missing albums, but I'm not feeling any urgency to do so.

I agree on that. It would be tough for Sting to re-create the "Soul cages" feel mainly because the "pain' he was going through was happening then, you cant make up "pain and feelings" for a record. "Mercury" is one of my faves from Sting mainly because you can listen to it whenever you want, "soul cages" is great in another way, you have to really be in a different mood to listen to it only, similar to George Michaels "Older".

the only Sting album that didn't do it for me was Brand New Day. It was too shiny and it didn't sound finished.
I really liked th eradio friendly songs of Ten Summoners' Tales. Plus the album was a little bit more 'up'.
Mercury Falling was awesome, lots of neat compact songs; i really liked his take on country and Sacred Love is really mature and his voice sounds really good on that on.
But nothing beats ...Nothing Like The Sun and The Soul Cages. They are masterpieces.
