Eighteen years on, and this still comes up in interviews. She could do no right after that point as far as many are concerned.

But that Carl Lewis shit? lol That mo fo messed it up right good when he "sang" it. lol

This to me, is the only version of "The Star Spangled Banner", worth mentioning. That other version was a mockery.

Truer words have not been spoken here.

Marvin brings a tear to my eye every time I watch/listen to this.

isn't that other version SUPPOSED to be a mockery? i don't understand, did people really think roseanne was going to bust out with this beautiful operatic voice and dazzle the world with her gossamer melisma? she was a comedian, of course she was going to sing off-key. if they thought it was in bad taste they shouldn't have selected her to sing.

Yes, I have. But, you expected that from her. She did nothing new to the song. Marvin, made this his own. Althought he recieved alot of flack for it, because it was not the "traditional interpretation". Marvin's version was really saying something. He was saying that I am going to do this my way....and he did.

Was the rumor that Marvin was either going up or coming down from his " HIIGHS " stoned martini while singing The National Anthem, therefore the cheesy drum machine backing him up made it sound more like a love song than a rally call? It's sad to know that he was dead months later, what a shame that time was.
