Love this song but it's like the end of an era.This was the last Shalamar single that featured the classic line-up of Howard Hewitt,Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels.By the time it was released as a single in the fall of '83,Jody and Jeffrey had already left the group.That's why they don't appear in the video (the video only features Howard and newcomer Micki Free).So I have bittersweet feelings about this song. | |

i love this song. what is it about this track? it is really sweet yet kinda sad. i love howard hewitt's voice. to me he was the true star of that group. that whole album is great along with Heart break even though by then he was the only original member. i love the direction they went on that album.very new wave! | |

Great track, although don't bother picking up the UK 12" if you see it. It's meant to be an extended version but is the same as the LP mix. | |

How does the rest of the album ('The Look') sound? I'm only familiar with the two singles: the excellent "Dead Giveaway" and "Over And Over".When I first heard "Dea d Giveaway",I thought that they were moving in a pop/New Wave direction.In the summer of '83,I was watching MTV one day and the "Dead Giveaway" video came on.I was shocked.I couldn't believe that they were showing a Shalamar video.After all those years of chart-topping R&B hits,they were finally being exposed to a wider audience.It's kinda sad that Jody and Jeffrey left the group just when they were beginning to crossover. | |

I just heard the full album yesterday. Even though the New Wave/rock influence is felt for the most part their are definetly some songs that still have the Shalamar sound  . "Dissapearing Act" is similar sounding to "Dead Giveaway" and features Watley on lead.Very New Wave/Rock influenced. I think it was a pretty big hit in the UK but it was never released as a single here in the U.S. My favorites are definetly "Over and Over" (of course), "Right Here" is excellent, it's very catchy old R&B Shalamar sounding, very single worthy as is the album opener "Closer" .The ballads "You Can Count on Me" and "You're The One for me"(a standout) are top notch to. | |

That is a bittersweet ending. I like this song. A nice mellower track but not quite a ballad. | |
