Get...Down...Boogie Oogie Oogie!!

dancing jig

I remember when I was only 3 or 4 yrs. old that this song would come on and I would go batshit! 30 years later, I still go dancing jig over it. This is probably my favorite jam from that era, or maybe it comes in a close second behind The Jacksons’ “Shake Your Body (Down to The Ground)”. Anyway, the groove is mesmerizing. Listen to that bassline and tell me that it didn’t influence Andre Cymone when he developed the groove that would become “Uptown”. And Janice’s vocals are so sexy. Hell, Janice is sexy!! Still! Check out her website!

I wonder if God still makes women as funky as Janice and Hazel. If He does He needs to share them with the rest of us.
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

This song always brings a smile to my face lol When I hear the intro,it takes me right back to the summer of 1978.I remember this song was HUGE!...a major hit on the radio. It's one of the most memorable disco hits.I have the album on CD."Boogie Oogie Oogie" was the smash hit but there are some other great songs on the album...."World Spin","Disco Dancin","This Love Of Ours","If We Loved".

Sometimes I go to youtube and just trip off the old disco stuff.

Donna Summer was a goddess to me, from ages 4-9. lol I was a toddler talking about, "I'm gonna marry the Disco Queen!" I've since had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of times. woot!

Classic! One of the coolest basslines ever written. Sometimes I'll go into a music store and pickup a bass and play this line for kicks. Everyone from the jazzheads to the old school metalheads recognize the lick.

They still look great. Hazel's orginal solo had "ERNIE" written all over it..I think that clip was from the PBS 70's special.
