the roots: phrenology

oh. yeah.

this is the album i've been most excited about this year ... it comes out today. i have it in my grubby little hands, but can't listen to it until i get off of work. (sigh)
any roots fans here? to me, they are the best hip-hop group to ever walk this planet. (well, a nod must go to a tribe called quest, but they broke up. punks.) anyway, i'm a huge fan of their work. they are some amazing mofos*

*mofos stands for "MUTHAFUCKAS!!!"

The Roots Phrenology is like what Around the World in a Day was for Prince in '85. They will either solidify their fanbase or they will start losing fans. Personally, I think it's a great album. It's definitely not their best thus far, but I'm willing to grow as a listener. Those who are afraid of guitars should stray away from the album. Water is the best track!!!

The Roots have put out some quality hip hop once again. I heard quite a few complaints about how different this album is and people being disappointed and such. But I just don't see what they were talking about. A few songs i could have done without but overall it's great.
