Thoughts on Santogold? Just got this album, and it's definitely one of the more interesting debuts in awhile. She's like the lovechild of MIA and Siouxsie Sioux. I love "I'm a Lady" and "Creator" and a few others are growing on me, but I'm not sure the whole thing hangs together. It's like she's so diverse, she hasn't quite found her own sound yet. Anyone else heard it? [Edited 5/26/08 7:21am]

When she has her own "sound" and starts rehashing it over and over, thats when i'd say something. i love it [Edited 5/26/08 8:38am]

I went to her MySpace to listen the other day and I realized that it's REALLY not my thing after hearing a few songs. But then with the MIA comparisons I guess I wouldn't because I can't stand her music. i have this cd too and i'm still getting into it. i think she hasa lot of potential as an artist and she doesn't sound so much like MIA as most people think. i think her music is actuallya bit more diverse with elements of hip hop, new wave, rock, some gothy stuff too.

I might do that, but really I'm just too lazy at this point to do so. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

I liked the song she had for free on iTunes a few weeks back. She kinda reminds me of Gwen Stefani...

I guess it's a good thing that you can't really pin it down to one thing, but it is so diverse that it's hard for me to take as whole whenever I feel like I'm in the mood to listen to it. And considering how diverse it is..... what kind of mood IS that? I'm missing my best friend Yes it was Incredible There's no reason to pretend

Huh, I'm going to have check that out too. Sounds good: http://profile.myspace.co...id=3652902 All I know is if I'm a Lady doesn't go top 10, I officially don't understand the tastes of the pop crowd anymore.

Stiffed was very cool. "Everybody's Got It" used to get played for awhile at one of the goth nights here. I like the Santogold album, but not as much as I thought I would. It might still make my top 10 of the year though.
