ROBERTA FLACK'S ALBUM "FIRST TAKE" When I was a child , I remember listening to this album because my parents used to play it to death. Now that I am older , I see why. Here is one of those albums so pure in its artistry that it stands as one of the finest examples of what "less is more" truly means. Ms.Roberta Flack's voice is like a cool drink of water on a hot summer day. She is an original whose voice can move my soul with its subtly and power. I've listened to most of her albums , but this album happens to be one of my personal favorites from her. Very beautiful album.

"Hey That's No Way To Say Goodbye"
"The Ballad of The Sad Young Men" The instrumentation on that album is beautiful. β"The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

Had this in my hands a few times while shopping for CDs but never picked it up in the end. Have to one day.

The best Roberta Flack album?
The sound is gorgeous. "Hey That's No Way To Say Goodbye" is my cut.. it is a Leonard Cohen song but her rendition is my favorite.

I really need to check out more Roberta Flack. I'm embarrassed to say I only know two of her songs, one of which ("The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face") I absolutely love. That Leonard Cohen song ("Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye") is one of his best so I'd be keen to see what she did with it. βThe man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.β
