Michael Rodgers - if you remember him, did he ever have a hit?

I was browsing through my CDs and found the soundtrack to the Eddie Murphy film 'Coming To America' from 1988. I remember buying it a while ago just for this one song from the movie called 'I Like It Like That' by Michael Rodgers. For a LONG time I thought it was Prince. It's THAT much of a rip-off, but I still like it.

I'm from the UK so can't find any info on him having any single or album releases at all. Does anyone know anything about him?
